Anyone used Ross Coates for conveyancing?
Comments
-
I found this solicitor office on line at a comparison website. They gave me a really good competitive quote for conveyancing.
The case was quickly set up and Remersh Kaur's team started working on it
My buyers have a' difficult to deal with' solicitor office. Remersh is dealing with them efficiently and highly professionally. Remersh's team is extremely busy, so it is difficult to get hold of them by phone but they always called me back in order to avoid any delay when I left message for them.
Remersh and her team are very polite and flexible.
The selling process is not over yet, but they do everything to make it happened. This is why I said "so far so good".
I will give a final review when the case is closed.
So far, I can recommend them.0 -
I'm not sure where these positive reviews are coming from - they seem worlds apart from our experience.
Ross Coates were/ are being used by our buyer and they have been nothing but horrendous. They have tried to lie numerous times - but luckily we have good direct communication between us and our buyer - which has flagged up the excuses as being false.
Our buyer has complained of them being very rude. Our solicitor has numerous emails/ letters to which they just don't reply.
I've even spoke to them myself (which I know is frowned upon but the frustration starts to boil over) and again they tried to pull the wool over my eyes.
They just seem disinterested and provide plenty of false excuses for excessive timescales.
I just hope it completes, I wouldn't be overly surprised if it doesn't due to them. I'll update this if and when we complete.0 -
Further lies - apparently we are exchanging contracts today (per Ross Coates) but nobody else knows anything about it! I'll push again tomorrow0
-
Further details - our agent contacted Susan at Ross Coates, who now will not give any specific date for exchange! Despite confirming nothing else to do. I will ask our buyer to contact the legal ombudsman - I'm going to try the SRA0

Final update - what a nightmare!!
We were due to complete on Thurs 24th before the easter bank holiday. Ross coates showed even more incompetence than usual by sending the money (for the purchase of our home we were selling at the time) to the wrong account. Because they had the usual helpful attitude of 'we've done our bit - its your banks fault the money hasn't arrived' - the incorrect account numbers used did not come to light until 4.30pm - by which time it was too late.
Hence we had 4 days (due to bank holidays) of living out of the back of a van (where all our stuff had been packed up). On top of that on the Tuesday the funds did not get moved to the correct account until 5pm - which meant we had to complete on the Weds - only 6 days late!
If you like stress and frustration - I recommend ross coates/ harmony law!!0 -
Yes, plenty keywords and other google goodies being used in some of these one hit wonder positive reviews. What they fail to realise is that they are creating a strong and permanent google reference to all the bad reviews about their company on here!0

As long as Anup Chavravorty looks after you, you cant go wrong.
I've used them twice now, first time was not good. I went back a 2nd time due to cost and reassurance from Anup he will handle my case (conveyancing) and will have no problem with him.
He stuck to his words. He was great! Efficient, professional and kept me updated.
If you use them I wound insist you have Anup. You will not be disappointed.0 -
To everyone out there reading this prior to instructing a law firm try to remember there is good and bad in all walks of life.
I've been in business for many years and moved house several times.
My experience of the legal profession has been varied. One firm was taken to court for gross incompetence others have had repeat business..
Anup and his team have been professional and helpful throughout and pulled out all the stops to hit a completion date when the purchasers solicitor caused a delay.
My only gripe is that the reception is closed during lunch time but hey-ho everyone deserves a cuppa in peace.0 -
After using Harmony Law for both our sale and purchase of property, we can recommend this company. Anup Chakravorty and Aime were professional and reasurring. While other parties solicitors were panicking Anup and staff were very calming and reassuring. I would recommend this company and ignore the bad feed back. Thank you to Anup.0

We used Ross Coates (Harmony Law) Solicitors recently when moving house for our sale and purchase.
Our Solicitor was Anup Chakrovorty and his Secretary Aimee Hearn.
Not having moved house for nearly 20 years a lot had changed in that time as regards procedures, money laundering regulations etc, and we had no idea which Solicitor to instruct or where to start.
The agents selling our home recommended one local Solicitor and the agents for the house we were buying recommended another. Each agent told us that the Solicitor the other agent had recommended was rubbish, so we were none the wiser. However, the quotes obtained from them for conveyancing were horrendous, so I googled 'conveyancing' companies and Harmony Law was one of those that we sought a quote from.
Ross Coates & Co were almost 1K cheaper than my local Solicitors so I did some further Googling for reviews and read this MSE thread right through. I will admit that reading some of the negative reviews did worry me a bit but I thought I'd take a punt and am so glad I did.
Whilst I cannot speak for any other Solicitors working for this firm I can only say that Anup and Aimee were absolutely fantastic. As someone else has said, Anup is a real gentleman, very personable, polite but also a great sense of humour, most unlike the stereotypical 'stuffy' Solicitor I imagine most to be. He kept us informed every step of the way and on the one occasion I wasn't able to get hold of him by telephone I left a message and he called me back within 20 minutes.
We completed on our sale and purchase 2 weeks ahead of the timescale that Anup had given us.
There have been a few comments from previous posters on this thread that the only positive reviews appear to come from 'singleton posters'. All I can say is I have been a member of the MSE forum for a number of years with multiple posts in three figures so I cannot be accused of joining this forum solely to 'big someone up'!
These are genuine comments based on my own experience and I cannot thank Anup and Aimee enough as they certainly helped negate what is often a very stressful experience.
Thank you so much Anup & Aimee, we feel you went the extra mile for us :-)
I would not hesitate to use you again.0
