Hassling For Feedback

  • Wouldn't it have been easier to just leave the feedback than open a post on here about leaving the feedback?.

Could you rewrite this in English?

You were shown up to be clueless, were embarrassed and tried to cover that up with bravado.

At least you now know that the paypal rules have been in existence for 18 months or so which stops you dishing out duff info.

I bought something recently on ebay and so far the seller has sent me 2 messages over a space of 3 days asking me to leave feedback.

I will leave feedback in my own time when I can be bothered, what's with the hassling?

You really don't get out much do you. You could have spent the time you devoted to whining about it on this site providing the poor guy with feedback
  • Why don't you just leave your feedback and also while you do that send a friendly message to the seller explaining that hassling for feedback gets most peoples back up, at least they might think about it and not annoy the next person.
  • I appreciate that giving feedback is not compulsary, however ebay buyers do attach importance to feedback in relation to sellers. A buyers feedback now, can be nothing but 100% , the best gauge of their behaviour is to review the feedback they left for sellers.

When buyers have a problem and come to this forum for advice when a purchase goes wrong, the seller's feedback is often brought into the topic.

So, if your purchase was straightforward, item as described and received within a reasonable timescale, why would you not leave prompt and appropriate feedback?
  • The trouble is with ebay now, as a private seller (only a few things a month) I am close to losing my selling status as a few people marked me low on communication because you are supposed to contact the buyer on when yr sending etc. Then a polite note to say hope you have received.

Now I have recently sold a couple of ex items and waiting patiently for my good feedback as I did all the comms and posted quick. If they dont leave feedback soon then I will lose my selling rights!!!!

Ebay want all sellers to be in the same boat so a business seller who can despatch asap whereas a private small seller may say 3 days to despatch. So many sellers now are having low rating from pretty vicious people for no reason.

If you dont get the feedback then its hard to acheive a good selling status and its not until you start selling thet you see how hard it is comply with all these new rules.

Anyway, whats your problem? If you have received your item, happy with it, why are you being ackward in pressing a few buttons? If someone is providing good service why cant you congratulate them??? They could also leave neutral feedback on you too!

Ebay is being spolit now by business sellers setting all the rules. Wasnt it initally set up as a place to exchange the things you no-longer wanted for something you did. Now its a business with endless silly rules and regulations.[/QUOTE
I quite agree i was marked down as being poor for communication when i reply to everyones questions in under 8 hours even during the night, and i make sure that i'm watching for late questions before my item is up and reply in under 10mins, when i asked ebay what they meant i was told that i should be contacting all my customers and asking for feedback to be left.
It is not my place to chase people pestering them, but i now have a limited account until i do.
It is ebay making us do this not the sellers, so please don't make us seem like nags when you receive your item please leave feedback as soon as possible or before long you will only have ebay shop sellers as we will all be frozen out and the bargains will come to an end.

The expectation of most buyers is that the item will be sent promptly once payment is made which I don't think is unreasonable.

If you are not in a position to send quickly following payment then maybe Ebay is not for you as you are likely to get low star ratings.

As a buyer I don't & will not leave feedback before the seller has, if I get asked by a seller to leave feedback I ignore it unless they've left for me first. I complete my side of the transaction by paying first, all this rubbish that some sellers put in their listings I will leave fb for you once I receive yours, just winds me up.
As a seller, I either leave fb as soon as payment is received or when I post, so that I can do the despatched bit at the same time. I always expect to leave for the buyer first.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose. As a buyer I leave feedback the minute I next get online after recieving and checking the item, as a seller I tend to leave it as soon as I get my feedback (so I know its arrived no problems) or ten days after dispatching the item ( to round up folks that do it your way without causing any offence that may lead to a bad comms grade).

If people put massive amounts of rubbish ts and cs and guides of how they expect you to act I just don't bid in the first place!

The buyer has completed their part of the deal when paying so I leave feedback at that point. Getting the item posted and delivered is is the seller's responsibility and the buyer's feedback, if they choose to bother, can only be made after the item is safely delivered and checked.

Early feedback from the seller is also likely to encourage feedback from the buyer if that is important to you.
