Preparing for winter II

It still is! Of course, there is going to be the occasional heated disagreement or troll, but on the whole it's very friendly here.0

Please can anyone give advice or recommend where I could look to get ideas on what to do to winterise my bathroom windows? Right now they are just 'bare' (no blinds or curtains), though they are double glazed. I'd like something more than just bubblewrap (still trying to convince DH on that one). I don't think heavy/lined curtains would be good in a bathroom, so I was thinking venetian or roman blinds - does this sound like it might work? I'm conscious of the effects of the steam that gets created in there.
There are 2 windows, internal dimensions of both are 31"w x 31"h. My bathroom has 2 outside walls, and it got really cold last winter, so I'm hoping that putting something on the windows will help a bit.

right ladies and gents. I am fed up of this and think i am going to leave this forum for a while.↲I am sick of getting shot down in flames by trolls.↲The last time i started a thread on the old style board about adopting a child on a budget i was criticised for considering bringing a child up in poverty and now being ridiculed for being prepared. ↲Good luck all and helenium i hope you find your manners.
You should ignore the troll. It would be a terrible shame if you left because of them. I enjoyed reading your list, I like seeing what others are doing to prepare.
Lets face it what a pathetic individual they must be if this is how they choose to spend their time. I love this thread and some pitiful excuse for a human being who enjoys upsetting people wont change that.
Lets all laugh at the troll. They have nothing worthwhile or interesting to say. It's quite sad really. And just think of them shivering in the winter because they failed to bubble wrap their windows and using old newspaper because they laughed off the suggestion that they might need a loo roll mountain.:D(\__/)(='.'=)(")_(")0 -
Vennypenny, what about using towels? You can put up a lightweight pole and use curtain rings with clips on them. They'd be heavy enough to keep in some warmth, but also easy to just unclip and wash regularly.0

For the bathroom, we have a blind in there, it's only ever used in winter. We picked ours up in Ikea on sale.0

Thanks
i have a roller blind in my bathroom which has been fine. No signs of damp. I have also bought curtains to put up this year. They are unlined and not too thick so should dry off quickly. I think they will help a little.(\__/)(='.'=)(")_(")0 -
Thanks Purple Kitten - What kind of blind is that? Do you feel it helos, and does it suffer from the effects of steam?
Sadly, since I moved last year my nearest Ikea is about 2.5hours' drive away, so I'm not very familiar with the types or styles they have available.
Gigervamp - thanks too. I'll have a think about your suggestion. I've never seen curtan clips like that, but I'll have a browse around & see what's out there.0 -
Brick em up....or nail planks to the outside
Why don't you just jog on and spout your hateful bile somewhere else? Idiot.
Red Doe: Any news?
Well had a set to with the freezer company. I have now been assured it will be with me Sat morn no later than 12pm. They have also said I will be heavily compensated. Damn right!
Rhubarb at home needs to be chopped and frozen. Need to do a large meat purchase so will have to scoop L*dl & C*stco next week I think.
L*dl Kirkcaldy had loads of thermal knee high socks and leggings last night if any Fifers are close. I also stocked up on passata there as it is uber cheap. L*dl will also be doing a neck/shoulder heated pad thing next week I think. They will also have heated mattress pads shortly too.
Still need to get a folding snow shovel, thermometers and deicer. This list never ends :rotfl:
Happy Friday all:A0
