  • thank you ladies for your sarky comments towards the troll, gave me a good giggle!

yesterday we got the beds ready for winter, so now they have duvets underneath the flannel sheets, and i have my heavy duvet to snuggle under and my daughter has a heavy and a lighter duvet on top so we can adjust that as needed. also put the electric blanket i found again under hers for prewarming the duvet when it gets really cold, she has the coldest room in the house.

i have a flat inspection on the 28th so i'll hold out with doing the thermal curtains and the other bubble wrap i have planned til after that. though i'll leave the stuff on the door at the top of the stairs he's already used to that... you'd have thought they'd have more sense then to put a primarily glass single paned door at the top of unheated stairs... the front door at the bottom of the stairs is also almost all glass (about a dozen single panes) and again it's all single pane so i'm def going to bubble wrap that this year.

off to do more cleaning soon and i need to mow the grass hopefully for the last time this year :T

    In response to helenium.

I live 10 minute walk from a big town center, I work in the town center and have 3 supermarkets almost on my doorstep. (in fact heavy snows means people cannot get to the shops and we snaffle up the lovely bargins)

However, I still have a small stockpile going , this is because, if the snow comes down, I really dont want to drag my kids to the shops when they and I could be sledging and playing in the snow, or snuggling up with a guilt free day of being glued to dvd's. (we dont have a car so its all walking)

I like to have the basics of what we eat (we arent very adventurous)plus comforting stuff like hot choc, cake mixes/cookie mixes as it gives us something to do together.

I hate taking the kids shopping so it saves my nerves and their voice from moaning if we have the essentials to get by. (which also included a bottle of vodka)

I dont winter prep to the extent of some on here but I cant say Ive really given other peoples choices much thought as it doesnt affect me in any way.

Preppers I think we should feel happy for Helenium, the prep that is taking place is their biggest worry in the world!!!! How lucky to be so uninvolved in anything else other than people trying to make the winter months easier.

Shame those of us with a bit more intellect have more to plan and think about.
I smile because I have no idea what is going on!

right ladies and gents. I am fed up of this and think i am going to leave this forum for a while.↲I am sick of getting shot down in flames by trolls.↲The last time i started a thread on the old style board about adopting a child on a budget i was criticised for considering bringing a child up in poverty and now being ridiculed for being prepared. ↲Good luck all and helenium i hope you find your manners.

  • Just when I thought I was about finished, I realised that I hadn't been into the loft from hell to find the rest of my winter clobber. Also means polishing sandals/boots etc. for switchover. Winter quilt is up there as well..... somewhere....

Then my mum said how much they were enjoying the bottled apples I gave them to test, so trying to do a last few bottles with the remainder of the apples.

Came home last night and DH had pulled a huge colander of ripe tomatoes off to be dealt with.

And worse - mum and dad visiting Sunday morning so house must be immaculate - or at least the bits they will see. House currently looking like a tip - kitchen table full of empty and full jars in transit plus accumulated DH "rubbish" dumped on it.

Another frantic weekend trying to catch up with myself lined up. Will be knackered by the time winter gets here.

That is what a troll does if you let it. Ignore it and play with the rest of us.

    Why let them win?

  • Mennie, please don't go. I loved reading your list (and other people's lists) - they remind me if there's something I need to do.

Great advice I saw on another thread - don't feed the troll, just report it with the button at the end of each post.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

It would be a shame if you left Mennie as that's exactly the reaction the troll wants. Just ignore them.
