Hi Almond and welcome to the thread  Ask anything you like but please ignore the trollAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
finally i have put the windscreen thingys behind the radiators in the kids room. Another thing off my list!
I also found the boys trapper hats whilst sorting other stuff out.
I bought more de-icer for 69p in Ugo today so I have 4 cans now.
I do need to sort out a blind at my kitchen window, a curtain at the kitchen door and need a pole to put up the thermal curtain on the landing window. And make dd a balaclava. I think they are the most important things. Except for the boiler being replaced but I will be organising that next week. And buy wintertrax from QVC (thanks for whoever posted that), the amount of time i fell over dragging the kids to school on their sledge last year as our school doesnt have snow days like every other school in the country!!! lol
Oh dear, i just keep thinking of more things. But just saw on tv that it may get to 27% in some parts of the country next week. Bet it wont here in the north east! lol0 -
nuttybabe - not far from me (yarm) and its cold thought it was going to get warm today0

Hi Kathy - its lovely to hear about you wieght loss success AND what a bargain from Lands End - we never seem to get uite such good prices here - same with the wood last time I bought I paid £60 for a 'truck load' whick is how we have to but it here these days. At least with that good old fashioned word 'cord' you know how much approx will arrive at your door (I say old fasioned in that most people here just wont know thw word!)
DD and I were watcing Food Network last night - do you see that ever - we love the show about all the different diners over there - we simply just DO NOT have that "its fun to eat out" culture - its much more about the drinking with most of the people my kids know who are under 26-ish. NOT ONT THIS FORUM THO' PEOPLE - I KNOW!
Its a sunny but very chilly day here at the moment, 9 degrees so Im hoping to get a load of washing on the line before it changs its mind.
Tugrin-- try landsend.com/us
They still have lots of bargain stuff in their "overstock" area. Not sure if they ship to the UK-- but why not ask what it would cost? We usually dont get bargains these good either-- thats why I posted:D
As for the firewood-- its only a "face" cord-- not a full cord. 4 feet by 8 feet by 18 inches. So maybe its not as cheap as you think:(
We mostly use our woodstove for the "ambience" (it has a large window to see the flames). The extra heat is a bonus (animals love it of course and we can turn the thermostat down on the furnace). We also like having a "back-up" heat source in case we lose power. Of course we take full advantage of the stove when its going-- i'll often throw a pot of stew on top of the stove, or use it to heat the tea kettle. I have to keep a humidifier pot of water on the stove all the time as its dry here. Unlike the UK, moisture is not a problem for us. We tend to have dry skin in the winter here. OH installed a "whole house" humidifier on the forced air furnace a few years back because he gets so dry and itchy.
I watch Food Network all the time! I love Diners, Drive-ins and Dives too! You ladies say you don't have so many places to eat out like this-- but most are like your pubs. Small places that serve alcohol and have good food too. I think all my lovely new UK/Ireland friends from this forum must fly over to see me. You can stay with me for a couple of weeks and we will travel around, see the sites and eat out. Is anyone up for a "field trip"? Would love to have any or all of you!0 -
It's a glorious, warm September day today, really enjoying it
We found Wilkinson to be very good for blinds.
Excuse me whilst I have a bit of a rant: I'm after a nice woolly jumper or two but for the life of me can't find anything I like. I really just want a basic knitted jumper maybe plain or with a little decoration on it, but everything I can find (just been in Peacocks who have their autumn stock in) are all mega fashionable and most don't function as a jumper to keep you warm, just something to look good. Just want something that I can pop out to sort the chickens. Irritatingly, I noticed in the men's section lots of lovely jumpers which would be just what I'm after, but even a small would swamp me (I'm a size 8). I did have a look in Edinburgh Woolen Mill, but run the risk of going a bit old ladyish - I'm 26 so don't want to be doing that just yet LOL! Any suggestions? The men's ones are really tempting, but don't want to look weird if I go to try it on :rotfl:0 -
Primarni have some nice jumpers in at the moment spotted a couple of plain but very nice ones nin there yesterday. I have loads of jumpers so I am not buying anymore.
Just noticed the MSE thread at the right hand side that says Tesco is slashing the clubcard points to finance the new prices!!! I don't know why they just didn't do that in the first place - honest fair pricing!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Haha!!! I totally agree about the fashions. They aren't functional-- just want to look good. I see young girls running around in sleeveless tops in the winter. What's up with that? All in the name of fashion and attracting a fella I suppose. I'm older (55) and don't want to look "old ladyish" either but I hate all these short tops that don't cover the tummy area or pants that don't cover my belly button. I wish there was a happy medium somewhere in fashion.0
