Thanks for that, shame we don't have a Primark in our town, will try to find time to get over to Chelmsford - I think there's a Primark there.0

Haha!!! I totally agree about the fashions. They aren't functional-- just want to look good. I see young girls running around in sleeveless tops in the winter. What's up with that? All in the name of fashion and attracting a fella I suppose. I'm older (55) and don't want to look "old ladyish" either but I hate all these short tops that don't cover the tummy area or pants that don't cover my belly button. I wish there was a happy medium somewhere in fashion.
Oh yeah, I saw some sleeveless jumpers, what's that all about? Completely defeats the object! :rotfl: I do like nice long tops as one of the things I can't stand is a draught round my middle. Got my lovely OH so no need to dress stupidly to find a man (not that I would anyway hehe!)
This is quite nice - didn't see it in the shop thoughhttp://www.ewm.co.uk/Ladieswear/Knitwear/2035561/Product

Me too (OH)!
That is a nice sweater (jumper), but why-oh-why must they all have hoods?0 -
Whatever I look for in the shops they haven't made it yet!
I had a lovely long length heavy weight cardigan (with a hood though not bothered about that!) which was perfect when it wasn't quite cold enough for a full coat and now it needs replacing I can't find one anywhere!
Do a search on Google Shopping for cable knit jumpers - looks like New Look might have some in (if they're not cropped!) - these seem the most 'practical'!

I am not a troll just because I think you are all potty for stocking up on 6 months worth of food and bog roll in case we get 2 days of snow..
Also your version of preparing for winters seems to entail spending loads of money, hardly MSE
But you are extremely insensitive for judging people who have disabilities & needs.
They know what they & their families need, not you!
So if you don't agree with the thread jog on.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Hi everyone! I have been reading this thread over the past couple of months and have found all the advice invaluable so Thank You to all that post. I just need to stock up on a few tinned goods over the coming weeks and top up the medicines and then we are set!
Not sure if this is of any interest to anyone but Mr T is selling Single Electric Blankets for 3.75, I picked one up this morning, although we have a double bed I thought it might be good for heating up the bed before we get in lol oh and I ordered a snow shovel today as well, another bargain.on a mission !!! :j0 -

For the most part its cheaper to bulk buy, i recently paid £6.99 for a 24 pack of cushell toilet roll that retails around £2 for a pack of four. saving around £4.80.
On the most part at lot of winter prep is one off buys like thick curtains or fleeces they pay for themselves and more over the longterm... most people are looking at life's bigger picture0 -
166 million, I got mine from Home Bargains late last year, only a couple of quid and does the trick, hope that helps.on a mission !!! :j0

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion
It'll also explain why one of your posts has been removed from the 'It's getting tough' threadAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0
