Hi Kathy - its lovely to hear about you wieght loss success AND what a bargain from Lands End - we never seem to get uite such good prices here - same with the wood last time I bought I paid £60 for a 'truck load' whick is how we have to but it here these days. At least with that good old fashioned word 'cord' you know how much approx will arrive at your door (I say old fasioned in that most people here just wont know thw word!)
DD and I were watcing Food Network last night - do you see that ever - we love the show about all the different diners over there - we simply just DO NOT have that "its fun to eat out" culture - its much more about the drinking with most of the people my kids know who are under 26-ish. NOT ONT THIS FORUM THO' PEOPLE - I KNOW!
Its a sunny but very chilly day here at the moment, 9 degrees so Im hoping to get a load of washing on the line before it changs its mind.

  • Haven't posted in here much but been following and prepping along with you! I'm not doing too badly. We live in a very high area and I expect it'll be pretty awful if if it snows as bad as last year. I was stuck indoors for 2 weeks with a 5month old last year and we lived in a more sheltered area

curtains have been lined/changed over for winter weight ones

garden is mostly sorted bar a couple of baby naps worth of weeding the paths

Wee one is sorted for winter clothes and woolies, just needing to buy a new dressing gown

making a quilt for DS which will be quickly finished once I buy the wadding after payday

I'm ok for winter clothes, crampons bought, need a new dressing gown though

Snow shovel and sledge have been located in my parents' garage

    Still to do:

    Check guttering
Buy a wrap sling to tie my toddler to my back if we really need to go out on foot - cant use the front carry ones i have anymore, too heavy!
Replenish tin stock(used a lot while I've been poor this month)
    Last of garden tidy up
Tidy garage and shed so grit etc is easily found!
    Buy some thermals for me
Retreat snow boots with protector spray
Put curtains up in front and back porches

hi everyone, happy to see new prepped for winter thread. This year we will see whether our massive investment in a wood burning stove is worth it! It was due to go in Novermber last year, due to massive f-wittery on behalf of the installers actually went in end of Jan, too late for most of the coldest weather we've ever had. We have been collecting, chopping and splitting wood all year, have built a covered log store and purchased one truck load of seasoned and split wood which is now stacked and waiting. Can't believe how much the price of wood has gone up though, looks like everyone is expecting higher useage. We have still to redo some sets of curtains to fully draught proof the house, and I would like to do one to cover the front door too, but currently one armed due to tenosinovitus which has beggared up a lot of things as it is my doing arm. Phew! typing is quite hard work. I also need to fill up my dry goods stores, but that will have to wait till next week as the bank is empty-ish. Hope everyone is well and keeping up with keeping warm.

Prepping going well here, feeling a sense of wellbeing for every little bit I do :-)

just seen this on ebay which is quite local to me, but can anyone tell me if these will heat the conservatory up more than a normol heater? Plus do they just plug into the mains?

    Thanks

You have been told by several posters not to judge others for safeguarding themselves & their families.

I suggest that you keep out of this thread if you have nothing positive to say.

Helenium = Helium the gas that expands and rises! Classic troll arn't you! Also a narcissistc character as well. Helium - It is colorless, odourless, and tasteless. Unlike you it is non toxic as opposed to your toxic behaviour here! Most terrestrial helium present today is created by the natural radioactive decay of heavy radioactive elements. "Decay" - how appropriate to you :rotfl:you miserable old troll!

Next time Helium gas think of a better troll name! You have been well and truly rumbled! Now !!!! Off!
