Toots now you behave yourself...we can't have you doing yourself a mischief....baby steps.

It's a bit breezy here in Aberdeen but we haven't had anything I class as storm force yet. I'm sure your home will be fine as I remember you saying you'd got everything from the garden in. Hope you're up and about very soon
thanks Carolyntia - I am home and everything is ok - the flowers have taken a battering and my 1 tomato plant is on its side but nothing else but it is very wild here and lashing rain too - I am not going anywhere:eek: will just be staying safe and getting back into my routine. oh and put the washing on - oh the joys!!!:rotfl: just wish i could get it outside on the line - it would be dry in no time:rotfl:

ok I am off to find my preparations list and see what i can do.

    stay safe everybody

    toots xx

  • Its wild here in Scotland! Just picked up DD from nursary and nearly got blown off my feet. We are meant to get hit around 4pm today but i guess its came early. Im in winter mode now, doors and windows locked, patio furniture away and just put the heating on for an hour to dry some washing.

 The wind is howling down the chimney. It sounds soooo spooky.

I'm pretty prepared now so i'm now going to focus my attention on gettting my dad prepared.

Just going back to chimney sweeps; have just had my chimney swept he has been here just over 30 minutes used my electricity for the vacuum and charged £30. Has done a very good cleanup job even asking to be able to dampen his cloth to wipe the hearth.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

My chimney is the same, it sounds scary!

The weather is wild here in shropshire. OH has taken the 4x4 to work so I'm battening down the hatches and staying indoors today. We put all our garden furniture away so that's one less thing to worry about. My cat and dog are both asleep on sofas, neither of them are showing the slightest interest in going outside! They have the right idea :)

    Keep safe everyone :) xxx

Our dearly departed cat hated the wind. It really freaked her out.

  • Having a little trouble getting motivated today. I had an appointment near Aldi and the Charity shops this morning, so stopped in on my way back. Found some good bargains, including a new water bottle so can fully mark that off my list now. Have aired bedroom, made bed, started washing and now having a cup of tea before I tackle the kitchen. OH cooked yesterday and then left in a rush for interviews this morning so its in a bit of a tip. Once I've done that I'll de-bone chicken leftovers, get bones in slowcooker for stock and then hopefully decide what to do with the over half of a chicken left of meat. Want to do something for the freezer but a little stuck for ideas. Tomorrow will be making eggplant parmesan to welcome OH back from interviews (making double and sticking some in freezer), that takes a bit of time so want the kitchen ready to go for that. Tonight its sewing new hot water bottle covers out of old jumpers and some new cushion covers out of a scrap of linen mum gave me. Not feeling particularly inspired in the embroidery department, so may have to look through my trims for something. They go on the bed, so buttons are out as Walking in to teach freshers first thing in the morning with button imprints on face is not a good look.

Glad to hear everyone is snug against the winds. Its very windy here-ruined my plans to hang sheets in sunshine as no amount of pegs would keep them down.

    It's a bit windy innit?
Washing line broke in all this silly wind and so I had to take my life in my hands and balance on a chair outside in the hurricane to put it back up. Thought better of putting the washing back out even though it was sunny. I'm shattered now!
