Just back from the Isle of Wight, treasure trove for charity shops! Bought 3 lovely plaid blankets, real wool, perfect condition, for the grand total of £21.50 for the 3! Now all members of my family have a nice rug blanket for their knees while watching tv in the winter, and no excuse for more heating!:rotfl:Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Only thing left to buy are some thermal socks, I have looked in all the shops, M & S, primani, BHS, tesco, asda, next etc, and cant find any anywhere. Any ideas?? I did think about trying a camping/outdoor type shop.

Blustery morning here in St Ives, the boats in the harbour look like they are roving and racing eachother with the wind,
It's bin collection day this morning and I am really hesitant to put my wheelie bin out before i go to work as Im worried that the neighbourhood may get decorated with my waste, so gonna hide it just outside the bin shed and hope that the bin men are in a reasonable mood to empty it!
Off to work in a mo, all my elderly clients are coughing and spluttering and sufferring with their chests, so will be putting on my best smiley face hopig to spread some autumnal cheer if only for half an hour or so.
Have a whoopsie bargain from Mr T's brisket joint to pop in the slow cooker this morning and so hoping to come home to a lovely delish dinner later.
I am going to drive the kids to school today as the lanes to their school is laden with trees and my neurotic instincts are worried that one may come down on them, so poppy the fiat panda has a windy job on her hands this morning along with my community care job.
Hope you all keep safe on this blustery day.

Morning Preppers
I forgot to mention I got a snow shovel at the carboot yesterday for £5, brand new
Very blustery here altho nothing has been mentioned about our area being affected... Great storm with no weather warning '87 anyone?!!! So i'm taking no chances - garden furniture will shortly (when I can be bothered to get off here!) be put in the shed along with any other bits and bobs that my flight about the garden!!! Trees are blowing sideways
***Anybody thinking of getting Yaktrax but struggling to justify the cost... This winter is likely to be worse than last, and that was bad enough and worse than we are used to... Yaktrax are not as pricey as 6+ weeks of taxis, time off work etc if you were to slip and break a wrist (or worse) not to mention the pain and, as my DD aged 5 broke her arm last week, I am seeing the inconvenience of having a broken limb and its a heck of a lot worse than I imagined... I ummed and arrrrred for ages but now, to me, the £20+ quid is definately money well spent.
Still waiting for quote from builder for fireplace0 -
Fairly windy here in Kent, but nothing to write home about..yet!:D
I'm making a rabbit stew today and boiling up my rosehip syrup.:T
Also, going to try and tidy this higgledy, piggledy house. That could take until next spring to achieve.:rotfl:Felines are my favourite
