    It's a bit windy innit?
Washing line broke in all this silly wind and so I had to take my life in my hands and balance on a chair outside in the hurricane to put it back up. Thought better of putting the washing back out even though it was sunny. I'm shattered now!

gosh how ms am I - wind is howling and all I can think is - oooh goody - lots of blown down branches to collect for the fire lol. Did consder hanging out the bedding but reckon running the td is cheaper than buying new sheets to replace them if they blow away!

Off into the attic tonight to bring down the winter car box/ hats and scarves bag.

Getting quite windy here now. How do you explain to a very annoyed cat that he can't go out because he'll blow away? He can see it's raining but still doesn't quite believe it. I would open the door so he can see for sure but he's mental and might just go out. Last night I had to listen to him screeching and running up and down the stairs. Not a happy kitty lol.

Our cat goes out no matter what the weather. Sometimes he comes in so wet he's spiky like a punk - then 'affectionately' rubs himself along your trouser leg :rotfl:(does he think we are complete fools?)

I went out for a longish walk this morning - very gusty, but at least it's not a cold wind. I got sea spray on my glasses though, even though I was a good 20 minutes walk from the actual sea (even though I could see it from the road I was on)
  • ok have been around the windows and doors and they are all draught proof. found an unused extractor in the kitchen that had part of gale blowing through it so that has had some bubble wrap selloptaped over - the only other place is the chimney and its not too bad at present -that is on my list to deal with anyway.
there are gaps at the bottom of the doors but no draughts coming through but i am still going to get draught excluders done as it will keep each room extra cosy in the very cold days.

At least i know now that the windows and doors are tight shut and will do fine.

Last year I got grips for my shoes from C0stc0, but they were forever falling off and getting lost in the snow, they were like these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mens-Size-Anti-Slip-Snow-Grippers/dp/B004AFVD0C/ref=pd_sim_sh_4 . I tried strapping them on with shoe laces but it didn't work. I have quite small feet (size 3) so they mightn't have been big enough to hold them on properly. My mum got me Wintertrax from Q V C that were brilliant. I've just ordered another set for dh and ds. You get two pairs for £18.75 and 6.06% cashback from Topcashback. Once the bad weather hit last year they sold out very quickly.

    Hope this helps someone

Hold on tight Preppers, its a bit breezy!

I was pleased with my Mr T bargain today as they had buy one get 2 free on their 8 packs of extra life AA batteries. So for £3.50 got 24 batteries :j Also picked up my wind up torch radios, pleased with them too. Whilst in there I got another 9 pack of loo rolls, so now have 27 and I fully blame you lot!!:rotfl:

Very windy and part of the back garden fence just blew down.

Two pairs of floor length half price curtains just arrived from Debenhams for the front door and dining room and I need to order a couple of curtain poles now.

Still need to see if linings are thick enough to not need fleeces as well. DH will not be happy if I ask for a trip to Ikea so fingers crossed.

Going to warm up chicken curry and make fresh rice for tea - anyone turning up their nose can make their own tea. Just have time to take penicilllin for thrombophebitis and look busy in kitchen.

My dog is currently lying in the back garden in the pouring rain and howling gale. Twice this afternoon he has come in and been affectionate asking for a cuddle. Dream on.

I'm sitting in the study at the computer in a slanket. I refuse to put the heating on until DH comes home. Need to get started on the thermal blind and curtains. This is getting ridiculous.
