Preparing for winter II

Our cat goes out no matter what the weather. Sometimes he comes in so wet he's spiky like a punk - then 'affectionately' rubs himself along your trouser leg :rotfl:(does he think we are complete fools?)
Well I gave in and opened the door. He's gone. I knew he would. Crazy little sod. Hope he's not out all night.
He occasionaly comes in soaked but usually manages to come in from the pouring rain absolutely bone dry. I'm sure he's got another family somewhere nearby(\__/)(='.'=)(")_(")0 -
My cat is now giving me evils because I won't let her out but I don't want to risk anything happening to her as our other cat went missing a few weeks ago
It's not been too cold here today, just windy so I have managed to resist the urge to light the fire. My lovely OH laid it out before he went to work yesterday but I don't want to light it if it isn't really that cold. Think I'll get my fleecy pjs on and a hot water bottle on the sofa instead
Hope everyone isn't being too battered about with the wind!Mammy to 2 boys aged 5 and 20 -
Hi Preppers, am happy to say I made these last night, not the best stitching in the world! I wanted to show someone as I was pleased with my efforts and hubbys comments were 'why dont u just buy them?' then said /whats the point of the little cushion:mad: I just ignore him, the kids liked them.
The best thing is they were all made from a £3 remnant of thickish material i found ages ago in dunelm. I also found a deep heather colour purple wool thick throw/blanket in homesense reduced to £12 and a pink/purple stripe wool blanket in there for £7 it is lovely the two together look fab on my sofa and my deep purple cushions and pink cushions and now my draught excluders. My ocds are in full swing as everything matches hahaha yes already it matches my xmas baubles on the tree (i kid u not)
I am sooooo pleased and just in time as its keeping the wind out of my living room (apart from the howling gale blowing down the chimney)
I really REALLY wish it was colder as I am dying to light the fire and wear my fleeces! Settled for my brushed cotton pyjamas an socks tonight and my new throws
Have a good night everyone stay safe in these high winds whereever you areLife happens when you are busy making other plans

One comment about YakTrax for the Aged Parents, which someone mentioned. Fine if you have a spare pair of shoes you can put them on and leave them on, but they are really very stiff and tight to get on and off, so they might struggle if they feel they need to put them on and take them off regularly.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Thanks to everyone who has posted info about yaktrax/shoe grippy things.
And apologies - thanks to the perpetual brain fog I thought it was Kittie who'd suggested them, not Frugal - sorry ladies!
Kirsty - fabulous work! :T I love what you made. Am wondering if you are actually Kirsty Alsopp and really sneaked out to an expensive local cushion-maker?They are really lovely and cosy looking!
The wind here eased off temporarily but is howling fiercely again. I think it sounds a bit spooky too!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Enjoy your Bearpaws. My chunky soled ones are three or four years old and still look good. I just buy new sheepskin liners each year. Don't forget to spray them with a waterproofer:)0 -
