Morning Peeps
Tugrin - All the cheap fleeces that i`ve bought have been from Asd@, £2.77 each and i do believe that they are a little bit bigger than some of the others.
Thanks to the tips on this thread I bought these - the cream coloured ones, they also come in chocolate and red I think - size is 122 x 152cm approx. They fit my living room curtains perfectly and have made the room seem cosier already :jJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £42.190 -

Has anyone seen fleecy pjs for 2 years olds? He kicks off his covers thru the night and always wakes up chilly.
Decidely grey sky this morning, and its raining.

Might get my mum one of these for Christmas! She always has cold feet! I reckon one of these to go with the slanket I gave her last year would do the trick!
ETA a quick search of ebay reveals foot warmer slippers that are powered from the USB port of your computer!
I have decided to make my mum a hand-made foot warmer. Basically it's an old pillowcase, trimmed down a bit to make it narrower. I am going to fill the bottom half with wheat or barley grains, stitch across it, leave an inch, stitch across it again (thus forming a 'hinge') and then fill the top bit with grain and stitch it up. Then I will fold it in half and blanket stitch the sides together (will have to learn how to blanket stitch first but surely it can't be that hard?) leaving an opening at the top for her to stick her tootsies into, and lo and behold she should have a snuggly, microwaveable foot warmer!
Well, that's the plan. I'll let you know if it works :rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Yahhhh!! Hooray fro freegle !! I have just collected the most fab upmarket Dreamland double eletric blanket (looks brand new too) from an absolutely lovely lady in the nearby market town!!
I can hardly believe my luck. I was debating which was going to be more useful - an electric blanket in my bed OR a heated throw for DD and self to snuggle under when watching TV in the winter (she already has a single e/blanket) - now I can justify the throw - actually maybe justify is the wrong word - if it means I dont need to put halogen heater or coal fire on that seems a positive necessity doesn't it?
Anyway a huge thank you my lovely lady today and all those truly generous people on all frecycle sites everywhere!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
We,ve just bought a freezer. Cant wait to fill it with HM goodies. Should be good if the weather turns bad, no more having to go to the shops.0

I really have tried to search the whole thread to see if it's been mentioned but winter power cuts could mean more blown fuses, so make sure you have a few spares around. My washing machine fuse blew yesterday morning  and that's what made me thing about it.0

Have absolutely decided to send the useless Trevor Bayliss eco-lantern back - spent 2 minutes winding and got less than 2 minutes light for my pains (and winding strenuously was indeed a pain).
Can anyone recommend a RELIABLE wind up lantern (not a torch) or are they a good idea on paper but all rubbish in reality? Would I be better off with mains rechargeable torch or (scary) a primus or one of those tilley lamps for emergency lights? I have got candles but I really got caught out the last 2 winters - we get long and frequent powercuts (not to mention the same with the water - have got bottled water in already!)
I got one of these and my daughter has used it in her caravan - it does what it says and I can read by it too. The little free torch is so cute too lol. I've just ordered a couple more for C*mas pressies

Great news about the electric blanket, Tugrin! :T:T
I thought my best friend might like a heated throw for his birthday, and had mine on and nicely warm when he came to see me today. He was most impressed when he tried it out, and was thrilled when I said I've ordered one for him! :rotfl::rotfl:
Today's the day I'm going to the local garden centre to look for bubble wrap to place with my IKEA fleecy blankets, between all my curtains and their linings.
Anything to keep the heating off for as long as possible!! This is a game I'm going to win! Not just to be more comfortable but to keep as much as possible of my hard-earned out of the hands of Scottish Power! :j:jIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
