Lidl has 4xBranston Beans for 87p this weekend :)
Anyone have any good suggestions to make a cheap but posh looking front door curtain for our new house please - it's the only part thats non-upvc & the last owners left the pole & tieback behind :) ready made would be good but my Mom could help with sewing if I needed it.
    Thanks, C xx

Suzy and Sunny - fab advice on the wee crisis! The vodka is certainly a new one and I am definitely going to give it a go (easy for me to use it like that as I dont drink) - also get the spray from Pets at Home - belt and braces plus a bit of string to make sure!
I am glad I have some people to talk to about it as all my friends are house proud ocd-ers who think Im frankly disgusting to keep them inside when I have a perfectly good shed! The old lady is nearly 14 but you would never know except for this one thing and I think her son, although neutered cannot resist occasionally cocking his leg!! Oh the joys of dogs - however I would be in a mental institution if it were not for them as I talk to them all the time.

  • Hi all,

Hope someone can help please :o

I'm in a rented flat and want to put up a lightweight rod across a door frame to hold a fleece (the door doesn't close properly and LL not bothered:mad:) anyway...I've got some hooks that can be stuck to the frame but it says to use rubbing alcohol - not domestic cleaners - where can I find rubbing alcohol?:)

    Thank you.

Will you ladies please stop posting all the good ideas, or at least whisper them? Went to my nearest £land last week, 10 miles away, and they had foil windscreen covers - hadn't read all the pages last week so didn't think of them as radiator heat deflectors. Went back this week and, of course, they've sold out :(.

Managed to order on line the last two Wilko 2xfleece packs at £3.50 a pack. Got to Wilkos (same 10 mile distant town) and lo and behold, they've given them to someone else by mistake , and brought me a garish multi-coloured fleece (at £5 for the one) from their stockroom. Apologised profusely, said the other customer has been phoned and she'll bring my 4 back today. Couldn't hang around any longer so came home and will have to go back tomorrow - would almost have been cheaper to book home delivery by the time I've gone there and back twice  !

Looks like my Winter preps are going to be a tad expensive :(

I use white spirit, or nail varnish remover, to make sure an obviously dirty surface is clean, or if not very grubby just a wash with washing up liquid and rinse with clean water, then leave til it's perfectly dry. hth

I should be getting a £10 Tesco voucher in the next couple of weeks. Would it be a good idea to use this to stock up on tins and stuff for the cupboard?

Nah! Just for once blow it on something nice for yourself! It's good to treat yourself every now and then.
Maybe put something by for the nasty cold weather so you can feel jolly when the spirit is feeble.

I'm so tight with money sometimes that I'd hate to spend £10 on one thing! I sometimes have more fun trying to buy as many things as I can for a certain amount of money... Is that weird? :o
