I would say baltic is a slang term for cold - not a localism as its used everywhere in the UK from NI to London to Glasgow and all points north:)

MARDATHA- Really hope your cat turns up soon.

Houseboots/ slippers -I got the lovely £15 houesboots from M&S last year .I loved them but they looked shody soon. I went back to get them this year, but was a bit tight for money. I went into primark an theyhad lovely fleecey & fur lined boots, made from a lovely suede matieral. Kind of like uggs, they are lovely & sofe=t and have a slightly hard sole, as I have a tendancy to go out to the bins in them. They were only £7 and work a trea, plus so comfy. My OH wanted a pair to so I got him a pair of grey wool ones, with fleecy lining at £8 .

Its Baltic where I am , just outside Glasgow. Transport ground to a halt, and had to walk 5 miles home on Monday night through thick snow. However thanks to the tips on here, I had ski trousers, leggings on, waterproof boots, ski jacket on and was at least slightly prepared this year. So you all prob saved my life , thanks x

I.m glad to you ve managed to get to shops and get new tv and shopping was thinking that lady either can t get a tv for her daughter for xmas or her ones blown up and she is without one had an old black and white one in the loft and was thinking how to get it to you but no worries now all is good , mind you just goes to show dont we all rely on this square box in the living room alot what if tv did nt exist what would we all do :rotfl:hope everyone has good day.

aww bless your cotton socks that is so sweet of you!

yep we're all set up now, not quite sure HOW i got the skybox to work with it (it kept getting upset it couldn't find any channels as it has freeview built in but i had it hooked straight up the skybox) but it's working so we're all good :T

we both love the dancing games for wii and they're good excercise for us on cold days when we don't want to go out (or can't get out!) so i got us the broadway one and the just dance2 i also got some singing ones as she's getting more into that... should be fun and i have to say i love this new telly the picutre is great and the sound is clearer so i don't have to turn it up so loud which i'm sure my neighbours appreciate!

i will admit my back and knees hurt a bit from having to help push the cabbie out of the drive (i told him not to go in there!) but i'll be ok. gonna go make dinner soon and then snuggle under the duvet with my daughter and eat dinner while watching...MORE TELLY :rotfl:

cheap entertainment and we use it for so much more than just brain numbing stuff so i don't feel bad :p

ooh one thing i've def decided to do, i'm gonna irriatate my nosey curtain twitching neighbours by putting up bubble wrap in the bedroom windows. i don't care if they complain it's unsightly (they're all really old anyway they shouldn't be squinting into neighbours houses anyway, they need to save their sight don't you think?!) it's been soooooooo cold in the bedrooms with a draught in the bedroom window i stuffed with paper. i'm gonna just tape over that one and deal with the paint it peels off later but i think the layer of bubblewrap will help too

it could be worse for my neighbours though, i could build the !!!!! hit snowman that my ex built with my daughter in our local park last year... he had been decapitated (head off to the side on the ground) with a bottle of ketchup squirted all about for effect :rotfl:now THAT would give them something to talk about, but i'm too cold to be bothered!

    brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr stay toasty everyone!
