I knew ginnel from Corrie!
Mind you after the cundie episode I was almost afraid of what lonnens would turn out to be! :rotfl:
Thanks NualaBuala. Do you like the lovely thick cushion on my bench? Looks sooo comfy...
Have my fingers crossed for your cat Mardatha
Supposedly it is -4C here now but it feels warm inside because the sun is beaming in the window warming me up nicely (and the heat is on). Was woken up by the sounds of cars crunching over the frozen snow - I reckon the roads are treatcherous in estates where as they haven't been salted/gritted.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Not overly cheap ( a Christmas present?) but I can highly recommend M&S houseboots at £15. My feet haven't felt cold indoors since I got them. They are machine washable - but according to my sister take quite a while to dry. Also keep ankles warm - lovely.
Pollys xxx
i too can recommend any bootie style boots. mine from last year are showing their age so i'll have to find a new pair next year but i def wouldn't be without them now and the no more cold ankles thing is a blessing!
if you can swing it though you may want to buy 2 pairs, i really should wash mine more often but they take so long to dry i'd be a few days without them so they don't get washed much (thankfully my feet don't smell too strongly!)
i got mine from debbenhams last year for about a tenner, money well spent!0 -

I really recommend trekmate slipper boots, they're meant to be tent slippers but they're great for round the house. They're lightweight and very very warm. They wash well and dry quickly, I've had mine for about 4 years are they're still in good nick.

i can't help it... in st andrews there is a butt wynd and i always giggle my head off when i see that... call me juvenule :rotfl:
fleshmarket close and cockburn street in edinburgh give me the giggles too... it's the small things in life isn't it?
speaking of the small things in life... WE GOT OUR TELLY! :T:T:T
took ages to get a taxi either way and it meant having to be dropped at lidl first, loading up on some supplies (they are actually very well stocked!) and then hauling that up to argos up a very treacherous ramp (and back down again later oh boy!)
so me, my new telly, the new heater, my groceries and my daughter waited for 30 minutes in the bitter cold (sun had just gone down) waiting for a taxi that said it would be just 5 minutes (why can't they just give a realistic time when they are swamped???)
when we got to our drive i told him he could just park it there as the box was light and had handles built in and i'd cleverly asked fro some spare bags to rest it on should i need to keep it from getting wet from snow...nope he tries to get us to the door and promptly gets stuck about 2 feet in!
i feel for him and give him a fiver instead of the 3 quid i owed and then cheekily said 'if you help me get my things into the landing in my house i'll help get you out of here'so he carried the telly (just as well my knees keep buckling in the cold, it's really setting off the swelling in my knees) and i got the groceries whilst i sent my daughter to grab the shovel.
everything safe inside we dug a bit then i pushed (OMG ) and he got a little bit of the way but not enough. then someone was trying to get out but couldn't get past him so SHE got out with her 8 year old daughter and she helped me push him out the rest of the way! she said she's from yorkshire and all yorkies know to help people stuck in the snow, bless her!
took me a bit to get it to work with my skybox but somehow i muddled through and we watched telly snuggled up under duvets and occasionally blasted ourselves with the new heater... ahhh bliss!
and i finally got to relax! and with that load off my shoulders i was able to. i am still worried about at least getting to dunoon for christmas (edinburgh will be sad to lose but she's already conceeded to losing that trip) but got to get to dunoon christmas would just be so wrong being here... but we'll see how it goes the weather could change so much between now and the 18th-23rd so no sense fussing too much now
trains are back on partially along one of the routes i can take to edinburgh, only every 2 hours but that is better than nothing. i'm sure glad we already did our shopping though, we couldn't get to dundee if we wanted to and edinburgh is still very questionable so yay for internet shopping and spreading it out over the year.
as it is we're still waiting on items we ordered nearly 2 weeks ago... i guess they are stuck in transit, i saw on the news last night they still have parts of the m8 closed even after 28 hours!
i'm not going to bother with online ordering... in a few days i'll venture out again to tesco and do a big shop since the shops are well stocked here and if tesco doesn't have enough i'll have the taxi drop me at lidl (tesco bags and all i have no shame) and finish it up from there as they had plenty yesterday... i think i need to plan ahead for the new years shop NOW just in case!
