    9 dozen strawberries

    8 pounds of onions

    7 packs of rhubarb

Over the past hour it's started going up.Our local weather station gives minus 4.9. Was 6 an hour or so ago. Positively tropical rather than Baltic! It's usually a couple of degrees colder up here than at the weather station but please, please, please let it get warmer. Once it gets to freezing point my heating will start working again, it was between 4 and 6 in my living room earlier today, I've had to postpone a visit by my grandchildren because of it. Their idea of cold isn't real!

Spoke too soon, just gone back down to -5

I've been worrying that the poor old thing might finally give up the ghost in these sub-sub-zero temperatures so, having decided to empty it, I sent Grumpy out to see what we had. By the time he got to the end of his long list I couldn't resist chiming in with "and a partridge in a pear tree".

Has anyone ever seen a partridge fly high enough to reach the branches of a pear tree? They always seem to whirr past very close to the ground.

(I saw a partridge under our pear tree once)

Was this the thread with the boot slippers? I just found these:

Do you think rubber soles would be reasonably tough and water-resistant?

  • and your ready for Christmas.I bet everyones at the moment is trying to sort out one draught or another iv shoved aload of bubble wrap up the chimney and that has helped stop cold air coming in.better than last year that was cold.your neighbours probably think your life is interesting id have a laugh with them they wont have a clue what your sticking up the windows keep them guessing :rotfl:going to wrap up in a fleecey blanket and watch film with cup of coffee and little doggie who is at this moment making himself comfortable sprawled out and taking up the whole sofa and im sitting on the edge so something wrong here bye for now and hope weather gets better roll on Summer.:o
  • We seem to have draughts coming in from around UPVC doors. The doors are around 16 years old I guess. They have a black plastic rubber around the edge of them for the draught excluding. I was wondering if I should buy some draught excluder and stick around the edge of the door - Anyone think that would help?

Also would like to buy a couple of them draught excluder sausages for the bottom of the doors but can't find them in any shops - Any ideas?

Also have a condensation problem and was wondering if I should get a dehumidifier. Any ideas on this and how much do they cost to run? Also what would be the miniumum size required for a two bedroom chalet type property (two floors).

    Thank you.
