Does anyone know where you can purchase a nice, soft, warm white bed blanket which is not heated and goes between the sheets and the duvet?

Urgh yuck! What have you lot been up to while I was away! Cundies...I suppose it's still all about drainage...
Welcome Tofu Tanya, they're not always like this, promise!
Snow shovels, I'm ashamed to say that our 'good' one is marooned in the shed at the bottom of the garden with about three foot of snow piled up against the door:o I'm wondering why that Homebase one can't be sold to under 18s?! My BIL arrived the other day and helpfully cleared my path with his snow shovel which has a metal edge, brilliant! (I'm beginning to think that there's a bit of snobbery creeping in here. Boys and their toys...):rotfl:

Heavy snow falling now north of me, and it's to move south later today. My OH says he will have hysterics if he has to dig the street out again. And we still have a foot of frozen hard packed snow on the ground. Last night it was -10 outside and 12.5 inside my kitchen. I sort of wish I lived in Bermuda .. :(

I'm sure I remember a rural moneysaving thread, or something with a similar name. Can anyone point me in the right direction for it? I've done a search but not found it.
    Or maybe it's dead now.

    Many thanks

  • we went to a village tea yesterday and I couldn`t believe how slippy the lane was but in big invisible patches. I was wearing my short warm boots so they are a no no when going anywhere on ice. I tentatively tried my new doc marten winter boots and they look nice and will be great as all round boots but they felt slippy too so I`m not risking them on days like today. I have got merrell walking shoes and they are great in any other weather, so no to them. Doh, I don`t want to end up with a sudden fall and risk breaking any bit of me. I could see how quickly falls happen the other week, when I slipped on wooden stairs in our garden

so now I have forked out again :eek:on boots with ice soles. They`re short, like trainers but the soles seem to be made for ice and they are specialist walking boots. I suppose if there is an upside it is that they will last for ever. I am definitely not getting trapped in the house for the whole of winter, just because I am terrified of falling

We've had no more snow and it feels like things are getting back to normal ... a bit anyway. There is still a lot of packed snow and ice where there have been thaws and it's refrozen. Pretty treacherous in places.

I don't have a snow shovel but I used a garden spade to clear a bit of snow away. It seemed to do the job fine, wondering why the need for special snow shovels? Is it to do with size?
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
