What a big change in temperature.

Yesterday it was about -14 here, not sure what it is now but we switched the central heating off at about 8pm and I have only just realised it hasn't come back on.

Well, I've also learnt what a rone is! Thank you. (I thought that Mardatha was meaning her rowan trees and excused her the bad spelling! Sorry Mardatha :o)
I'll certainly check out those books now and I don't care if they laugh at me for going to the kiddies section,. Do you need a different ticket? I've just started using the library again after years of neglect and was surprised to find that I didn't need to take my books in to be restamped as they just swiped my new library card. I could have just phoned or gone online apparently. Thought that I'd mention it for any one who is snow bound and facing an overdue fine...or is it just me living in the past?:o
JustaMum, I'm pleased that you now have your washing machine but am imagining you under a mountain of damp washing..how are you drying it all in this weather? Please stop before you disappear!:rotfl:

I've got a TD luckily. It's just very difficult to dry clothes from sopping wet in it as A) it takes too bl**dy long! and B) the weight of the clothes would put too much pressure on the belt which would snap it, meaning an expensive repair  . So I just gave up with the hand-washing as it wasn't even drip-drying on the line (just freezing solid)

It's so much warmer here tonight, 2 days ago my OH went to work at 5.30am and the car thermometer said -16 now we're at 0 - just hope it doesn't freeze to badly tonight or our little road is going to be lethal to walk down to get to car in the morning. We've been parking at the bottom in this weather as it's not worth the hassle and only got the car on Monday so not quite ready to add any new scatches of our own to it! Thank heavens it came with a couple of small scratches as A it brought the price down - yay - and B I don't need to panic quite so much about getting such a big car into our relatively small parking bay!

Got OH to shovel the last bits of snow away from our front door and brush as much of the melt away as he could before it got dark so hope that will help a bit.

Take care out there everyone if it's slippy in the morning.

ETA - love your sig mrssnowy!

My snood has been fantastic for stopping those chilly winds on my neck Amber, I'd really recommend one.

Well all our snow went yesterday, we had about 8 inches but it rained solidly all day so now everything is clear and wet rather than icy and slushy.

I turned the heating off yesterday morning after an hours blast to make the bathroom useable and we didn't need to light the fire until around 4pm when we started to get a bit chilly again. Whilst I appreciate the warmth from the central heating, I hate the dry air and my skin feels awful after a couple of days indoors being blasted by it.

  • It's funny how 0 degrees or above feels so "warm" after all the weather we have had recently. We must have aclimatised!

I opened my windows for a short period yesterday to get some air in as like the poster above i didn't like the dry air from having the heating on!

Heating was only on for a few hours too - can't turn it off too much or risk the house getting too cold as the back rooms (exterior walls) get damp and DS gets cold.

Hope those that still have snow get out safely and that it dissipates soon!
