Thanks too for the link about Laura Ingalls Wilder, Marmite. I've learned a lot about her. I used to love the series (and Michael Landon:o) it was Little Joe from Bonanza wasn't it? Now I want to watch them all again. I always used to cry for some reason, can't remember why? I haven't read the books but I'll have a look at the library next time. (New MSE resolution, STOP buying books!):T
I checked our library catalogue and it seems to have them all but none available in my branch right now, I guess they are popular! Will feel a bit odd looking for books in the children's section!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Pleased you got the burst sorted and you're feeling better.
Often a sequence of small events overloads the emotional boat and it sinks, good to have friends to hold you up.
Keep on going forward, the alternative is pretty naff, I know I went there.
Confuzzled, I noticed my birds have started reappearing too - perhaps they were suspicious of my new homemade feeders at first. And the proper one hadn't been filled in ages, I guess they had given up on it!I was wondering that!
What are they Mardatha?
It has started freezing up here again, it's bitterly cold and although we still have almost a foot of snow, there is a lot of watery stuff and slush in places that is going to turn into ice overnight. So I hope to stay put tomorrow!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

How strange - we've still got most of our snow.

Laura also wasn't all gooey-eyed over Almanzo - it was he who pursued her.
Nellie doesn't feature much in the books - she was briefly in one of them where she was a bit of a rich spoilt brat, but appeared in a later one when her father had fallen on hard times and they had also 'gone west' in search of a better life, and were poor.
Also in the series she had an adopted brother, which wasn't true.
I know that the series was really only loosely based on the books, but I loved the series too.
I've just read that article and the comments which followed, and I agree with the comments which say they prefer these books to Little Women. I found LW to be very saccharine and sanctimonious! (but that's just my own opinion - feel free to differ :rotfl:)
My washing machine has been working overtime since I got it yesterday. I've nearly caught up - just need to do the bedding tomorrow. Phew {wipes sweaty, hard-worked brow :rotfl:}0 -

Confuzzled they NEVER clear any minor roads here, if it's not an A road or bus route they don't do it. We have bungalows and flats full of elderly folks who's Carers won't go out to them and they refuse as if they do one they have to do them all. It's like an ice rink out there today plus 2 ft of snow where it hasn't been touched. We've all just been doing what we can.!
Fedupandskint if the fourth is quite worn or different it may be worth changing that too, possibly getting that added as a spare? It's just most cars (and especially 4x4s) respond better with 4 equal tyres. I noticed a dramatic difference when I changed mine which came with odd ones when I bought it!
Well we've gone down a notch on the heating, trying to reduce out goings. Wrapping warm in blankets is fun, I'm not getting much done but it's fun. Boys put on their all in one fleece sleep suits tonight but DS2 has decided he does not like it. Ds1 does so that's good.
We're all stocked up apart from fresh veg and bread if we need it, we're using a lot less bread lately anyway. We have been able to get out despite the high amount of snow and ice, my crazy DP has gone to work worrying about money and I do wish he was home where he's safe and warm. One day I might be more organised...........
