They`re not cheap mardatha but I reckon they`ll do my lifetime. £93 all in I`ve got to break it to dh now but I never buy expensive clothes so I am sure he`ll be good and he`ll want me to be safe. I saw a bag on qvc the other day for 5 x the price and these shoes may well be lifesavers for me. They are salomon snow boots

merrell do good ones too but not in my size. They are called whiteout. I would have liked the laced up ones of these as merrell fit me but everywhere is sold out in most sizes0 -

Snow on again now.:D
and it is here too, and i'm so frustrated i want to cry! why oh why was i greedy and ask for more?
i really really really need to get that telly, half my daughters x-mas pressies are either for the wii or dvds she's been really wanting. if i can't get a telly here before we (attempt) to go to her grans for christmas i'm not going to be able to enjoy it at all knowing she won't actually be able to enjoy her new things!
it had been dry enough and the drive had been shoveled enough by the neighbour that i felt sure i could sweet talk a taxi driver into getting relatively close to the house today *sighs heavily*
no chance now, all the people silly enough to take their bins out to the kerb last night now have 4 inches of fresh snow on top and it's wayyyy past when they should have come so that's not happening nor is my trip to argos. this is the first time i've had so much snow and haven't enjoyed it... i hate this on edge feeling
i know i could have it worse and have no heat but i am so worried that my daughters christmas is going to be spoiled. they STILL have the edinburgh train closed (5th day running) so if this doesn't let up there will be no christmas fair, no telly and no grandmothers house for christmasthe only good thing out of this, from my daughters point of view, is that the schools are closed again so she gets another snow day....
ok whinge over... i hope you are all doing well and not going stir crazy and worrying like me... go out and enjoy the snow if you can0 -
Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Be calm! It will be FINE ! And no thanks, I'll stick to my nice cosy couch, knitting and watching the white-out outside0

and just guess who was last to post in it ..? LOL god I talk too much .Someone's got to do it Mar - it's a full time job keeping the rest of us informed and entertained! Ta for info on snow shovel. Can do without one for now at least.
Aw (((((Confuzzled))))) ... there's still time - have my fingers crossed you get the new telly.
Have just been out to feed and water the birds. I haven't been following all the weather sites so didn't know what temp it is/was but it must have been blooming cold, there is such a heavy frost still. It's very pretty, the remaining leaves on trees, cobwebs and things are all frosted with silver and sparkle.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Loads more time yet before christmas i too have presents still to get for my family but just in case people get snowed in beforehand i may think up a special plan b such as lots of fun at home with christmas buffet and watch xmas films i have lots plan which involves evenings out but it may not be possible which would be disappointing as it is all booked up but cant help the weather i know its a pest especially if like me you prefer the summer but have to think of plan b if i was you i would keep fingers crossed that weather improves but if it dose nt i would arrange an extra special shopping trip for your daughter for when weather is better with bit of lunch in town a special day of it and with a bit of luck you may get a better tv in the sales they will be crying out for customers after christmas hopes this helps you feel better0

Anyone else up for trying this?
I bought a book from a charity shop (10p '501 Ways to Save Money) this morning and thought I would try one of the tips in it.
It says a cut onion rubbed on the windscreen will stop it from freezing over.
Off to grab an onion now.
Let's give it a try and post the outcome tomorrow morning as it is more than likely to be a frosty night again tonight.0 -

But how would it smell?
I tried the washing up liquid suggestion from here for condensation, but it didn't make a difference. I though of trying shaving foam, which works for steamed up bathroom mirrors.
I'd put up with the smell of onion in the car though, it was hellishly fogged up in the car this morning.0
