I tried the washing up liquid suggestion from here for condensation, but it didn't make a difference. I though of trying shaving foam, which works for steamed up bathroom mirrors.
I'd put up with the smell of onion in the car though, it was hellishly fogged up in the car this morning.
I think you are supposed to use it on the 'outside' of the car, not inside as it says to stop if from freezing.0 -

LOL, oooops.Still we get ice inside and out of the car and house. Worse ATM becuase the driver's side window has got uneven and isn't closing properly. Its on the to do list to jiggle it, but DH has a long to do list!:o:o

I'm sorry to hear that some of you have snow again. I know that I am tired of it now. (It's bright sunshine at the moment, but very cold, I'm hoping for a bit of a thaw and PLEASE no more snow!) Big hugs to all of you. Confuzzled I hope that you get that telly on time, but have you thought that one of your friends or neighbours might have a spare that they could lend you in the meantime? The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)0 -
Anyone else up for trying this?
I bought a book from a charity shop (10p '501 Ways to Save Money) this morning and thought I would try one of the tips in it.
It says a cut onion rubbed on the windscreen will stop it from freezing over.
Off to grab an onion now.
Let's give it a try and post the outcome tomorrow morning as it is more than likely to be a frosty night again tonight.
Just been outside with an onion to try this and it left the windscreen smeary if there is such a word, it could have been just a dry onion?
Decided to try the white vinegar method, one part vinegar to two parts water.
I used a washing up sponge to wipe all of the outside windows down with it, so shall see how that works in the morning.
I'll post then and let you know how it went.0 -

Yep, we have had it on the inside of ours too this year, didn't notice it last year though. perhaps it's because is wasn't as cold in 2009.0 -

unfortunately i only know two of my neighbours, the one set know about the tv and have offered nothing so far and i don't know them well enough to ask, the other hasn't been seen for days i think she's at her dad's house.
no friends close by and all family on the other side of scotland so we'll have to suck it in and deal with what comes i suppose but thanks for the suggestion
oh well least my ex will get off my back for not bothering with freecycle it's nigh on impossible to get anyone to drop somehting off for you even if you pay for petrol but i know they won't do it in this weather :rotfl: it's alright though i have a nice telly picked out and was wanting an lcd anyway, have the money too just need the means of getting it here!
my daughter is getting over her grumpiness about lack of telly by playing in the snow... i think i'll be baking again today. i'm really craving take away but i just can't bring myself to do that to the poor sod that would have to deliver in this weather0 -
it has been misty and freezing cold all day today and getting dark by 3. I`ve done a winter stew and decided to make dumplings for the first time in ages as I have veggie suet left over from making mincemeat. Just the day for it too and being os by birth, I have made double, as always, so tomorrow will be easy peasy. I am back and forth on the waitrose site as I keep adding to my list for delivery end of next week. I think I`ll be putting crumpets and chocolate on later and more suet as we have lots more bad weather forecast january onwards. It has been a long day today but corrie should be good tonight so something to look forward to0
