Take a look at this one.

Good time to pop out and make sure you have lots of snow on your roof.
If you dont have as much as everyone else then you need more loft insulation.
I'm sitting here looking out of my window and I can see 2 houses that must have none, and 3 that need more.0 -
we are officially snowed in.
the farmers have ben out since early trying to clear enough of a way for an ambulance to get in as a lady went in to labour, and the ambulance got stuck at 5am approx 1½ mile down the only lane to the RAF camp where we live.
the tractors drivers can't clear the roads easily as the snow is drifting and is higher than their snow ploughs,
The lady has since had a baby boy and both are well not sure if they are going through to hospital or staying put.
We also had powerout from 9pm to approx 1am last night, but had a coal fire, wind up lanterns and had already filled flasks with boiling water for hot drinks just in case.
Can not believe that people have still tried to drive out to work when the road was impassible last night, these cars are now abandoned down the lane.
We now have a lovely sunny day but the bitter easterly winds are blowing inMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Good idea annie123, checked ours the first snow day and to say we've got an attic room with a dormer window it looked ok but told our best friend who also lives in our village and we can see his roof from our bedroom that he needed to check his insulation.0

Thanks for the link to the silver socks, haven't heard of them before will certainly give them a try. I was introduced to 'double socking' by OH who is a walker and always wears thin socks under proper walking socks to prevent blisters forming. (You can actually get double layer walking socks which I find great) Have you tried thermal insoles? I have put them in trainers and boots as I get pains in my toes as soon as the weather starts to get cold. The start of arthritis I think:eek:
Thanks for giving some credence to my claim that a heavier cream helps to keep your face and hands warm! I use a cream called Creamy which is petroleum jelly with vit E by Cotton Tree, (only 99p at B&M:)) before I go out in the cold and I come back with a healthy glow and softer skin:jHonest! The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

We are pretty much snowed in here too, we are in NE Lincs, my DH has walked to work this morning as there was no way of getting the car out - apparently the council have a plough and are ploughing the main roads so emergency services can get through!!!
the shopping centre in town is totally shut too, when DH got to town he said it was strange, like a scene from the film, the day after tomorrow
glad to hear the lady gave birth and both her and the baby are doing well0 -
Grrr seems DD1's wellies are too small - so much that they've now split down the back! So now I have to find some size 2 wellies - in this weather, with classic British panic-rush buying and lack of foresight by shops - means I've next to no chance. Maybe I could make her some out of old milk cartons? :rotfl:0
