Hi i live in southeast uk and its chilling here today.going to wash all the blankets and get some hot water bottles out and put a couple on the sofa every evening to get as warm as possible .have stocked up on value ranges my family keep laughing at me because i have 20 pks of tesco value pancake mix at 7p each in my cupboard but i say well you never know when your going to fancy a hot pancake with a squirt of lemon when you snowed in ,also i have 9 tubs of tesco value herbs to liven up foods ,and tins and tins and tins and tins of soups.they can laugh if they like i keep speaking to lots of people who are losing jobs and with priceit rises and with it being winter like to know there is plenty to eat even if it is stocking up with best bargains i can find. i think i am like this because i grew up in remote countryside we didnt even have a bus route you had to walk a mile and a half to get to the nxet village .no village shop just a pub and a village hall if you got snowed in with a bad winter and had nt prepared then hard luck you went without my mums freezer was always full up in the winter months so was the coal bunker , it was a cold old house you had to have the fire on or you d freeze. mum use to make us laugh in the morning she would say all be home by mid day we are going to be snowed in today we d look at the sky not one cloud bright sunshine and id think What but come tenoclock that night they d be 6ft of snow and nothing coming in or going out except by foot:)0

I'm not liking this forecast. Why does it have to be a weekend?
I drive 100 miles to my OH's on Friday evenings (worst snow of the whole weekend) and Sunday afternoon looks pretty nasty ice-wise too for travelling back.
It's not even my driving I'm worried about, I learnt to drive in snow and ice at 17! It's the a) weather-oblivious maniacs and b) dithering panickers on the motorway that bother me.
I would love to stay home and not have to go anywhere, but weekends are the only time we see each other.
Guess I just need to have confidence in my car box! :rotfl:Must bake some oat & walnut cookies for the glove box...:D0 -

Yr so brave .I learnt to drive later in life and last year was my first experiance of driving in the snow .We don't get a lot here so have always managed to avoid driving in it ,last year it cault me out it came down at night while i was at work ,its only a 3 mile drive home but i was terrifyed i only have a smart car which i found is no good driving through snow ,i will never do it again if it snows while at work i'm coming home quick .Good luck with yr trip.0 -
It's freezing here today, and my washing machine broke on Saturday night . Apparently it will be at least another 10 days before the spare part gets here  (oh the joys of living on an island!) so I'm washing everything by hand atm - which isn't a problem, but getting it dry is! Everything is left soaking overnight in the bath, then in the morning I hang it out so the excess can drip off, and in the evening it goes in the dryer (tbh not much dryer than it went out:(). I can't wait for the wm to be fixed!!!!0

I have a wire suspension as a curtain rail in the sitting room. There's a part broken and a part missing,so I can't have my winter curtains up.I do have 2 very fine sets of curtains up and well-fitting shutters, but if I can get my thicker curtains up,it would make a big difference.
A man's coming to have a look on Friday.I just hope he can fix it!0
