Yup, the site has been running terribly slowly this evening and each new tab i opened, to open different threads, failed to load...so I watched a dvd instead :D

And now it's all working ok for me at the moment.

Thanks for the link, I'm being incredibly dim here but... how do you ride the lollipop shape sledges? And are they really big enough for the 6 ft tall lads?

well if your 6 footer is a bit slim i bet he could sit crossed legged on the spoon part then pull up the handle towards him and shove off down the slope

another tactic would be to just tilt back a bit with legs lifted off the ground a little (probably better on steeper slopes) or sit with your knees tucked up under your chin

personally i'd go for the first one IF i could still bend that well :rotfl:

In my opinion those lollipop ones are no good - cheap yes, good no.

Spend what you can.... its gonna earn itself in this evil winter ;)

i wish we still had our wooden toboggan. we picked it up at a charity shop when my daughter was a year old, didn't get to use it for 2 years and then only a few times over the years.

it's at her grans house so if it's snowy there at christmas i'll borrow a candle to wax the runners with and see if it still works ok. when we did get to use it it was a brilliant ride but it's very heavy to drag up a hill!

Snow here this morning. DD has gone to college wearing canvas pumps, she's had months to find some waterproof shoes/boots but apparently there's "nothing she likes". Of course at 17yrs old style is much, much more important than practicality but maybe a day with wet feet might persuade her otherwise. :p

well made a start on sorting out the drafts last night...went round with a candle like a suspicious old dear :rotfl: trying to find them... turns out they're bloody everywhere!

Sealed up the windows i can reach in the living room with duct tape and you can already notice the difference. Also managed to block up one of the drafts coming from the upper windows with a towel and a good climb onto the sofa and shelving units (lol don't try this at home springs to mind...)

My OH came home late last night after the footie and dozed off up there and this morning he says it's much better and it has gained a degree even to me, but still needs more especially the upper windows when we can get hold of a ladder to get up there.

Going to get a pole and a thick curtain to sort out the stairway up to the livingroom too, and still going to buy a oil-filled heater or two so that we can have lots of warmth! Then just need buy some more tape and do the bedroom windows :)

Was good and found waterproof over-trousers too in Primark sales rail for just a fiver - i cycle to work and even when its not raining they take the edge of the cold and don't make me sweat either so they're going to be indispensable!

*shakes fist at winter* as they say the weather outside really is FRIGHTFUL!!! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
