Thought it was Princess Catherine (with a C now I'm confused, doesn't take much). Hey if it's a day off I'll be flag waving. I hope they take every opportunity to showcase British talent to the work (our designers and so on).

Just a reminder for some bits for cars:
    - anti freeze windscreen wash stuff (Lidl were selling some recently)
    - ice scraper
    - screen cover (old blanket will do) to help prevent the windscreen freezing over

    Need to...
    - check cars have de-icer

Of course, it's all great us preparing ourselves but don't forget to tell friends, family and neighbours about your preparations - so they don't get caught out either.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

Must get someone to get my wellies out of the shed and spider check them  then bring them in and stuff with newspaper so nothing can hide inside

Could you just put some cling film and a rubber band over the top of them?

Once, in a hurry to get outdoors to fetch something in from the lashing rain, I put my bare feet into my wellies and felt a squelch. Was the biggest (flattest) spider.... *shiver* So now I drape an old tea towel kept at the door for wiping them down, over the tops of them.

I've just clagged duct tape on the draughty gap on the patio door. It looks horrendous but works. I have no curtains up there yet and was thinking of just getting some liners first, may not look great but at least it will be much cheaper than curtains (like to make my own anyway, but material expensive) i'll need liners anyway so money not wasted.

Bubble wrap on WC rooms is working brilliantly.

Well, I've just checked our area in Staffordshire at https://www.netweather.tv (not sure how accurate that site is) and they predict a 93% of snow here on thursday night!

Best I make sure I have plenty of essential food items in.

I have two freezers full of meat, lots of flour but need pet food, milk, eggs, fruit and veg etc.

She is Catherine with a C yet know as Kate with a K, doesnt quite make sense to me. Im Katherine with a K but my Wills calls me Princess Kate! :)

Back on topic, I have been manic with work & life so winter preps had fallen to the wayside. I had done quite a lot yet the forecast of snow this week has brought me back here to catch up & sort a few final preps!! Thank you all!!

i don't know how much good it will do for making stairs more snug but i can tell you the flat i'm in now has really really thick carpet underlay and i can tell you it really helps a lot with keeping this place warm!

all the doors leave light grooves into the carpet when you open them it's so thick but that's nice as i don't need any draught excluders (except a wee bit on a warped door that gets the heat on one side and the cold stairs on the other!) so i highly recommend paying a little extra next time anyone recarpets on nice thick underlay, it's worth it!
Unfortunately I'm in a rented house so the landlady is sorting it all out and I'm not getting any say except when they can come to do the fitting. I have laminate flooring in the livingroom and if I had my way that would be replaced with carpet but I have so much carp in my livingroom I don't fancy the upheaval it would cause. Just having the bedrooms & stairs done is bad enough :rotfl:I will however take note for when I eventually own my own home :)
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Just going to say, the netweather forecast has changed several times the past three days so keep an eye on it. Consensus seems to be snow but when seems to keep changing!

Does anyone know which is the most reliable, Netweather or Metcheck (if any)?

    Ta.
