Hi,
Just popping out of lurkdom againOn the ciggie front I've just ordered one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120642903675&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT DP always has baccy in & if it's any good I may just use it until I can summon up the will power to give up :rotfl::rotfl:
Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
I've found a major draft today which I didn't know about - half a brick was missing from by the front door but was skillfully disguise by wallpaper:mad: Expanding foam to the rescue
:rotfl: I'll chop off the excess & make it look neater tomorrow.
Right now I'm taking up the stairs carpet. I'm having to sit down every 15mins or so though as its backbreaking work. Its also filthy as it was a foamback carpet so the backing has disintergrated, the underlay has gone, the grips & nails are rusty and I don't want to think about whats been 'spilt' on it :eek: I will have a nice, snug house by Xmas if it kills me (which at this rate it might just)!

SNOW :eek::eek::eek:
We have no heating and are freezing as it is! The last thing we need is blooming snow!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I've only just finished taking the carpet up which I started about 8-ish :eek: However its all be swept, binned (wheelie bin now full until they empty it on Monday!), and de-nailed as much as possible. DD must have been exhausted tonight as I've just been hammering a very stubborn nail in on the top step right outside her room and she hasn't even turned over :rotfl: I managed to get 2 grips out, but I need to do too much hammering to lever them off so they can wait until tomorrow.
I think I'm safe to turn the heating back on now before I have a wash & then collapse into bed. I'm filthy and its times like this I miss having a shower
Tomorrow I'll hopefully be painting the walls which I'm hoping will see the end of the mould growth since we've now got heating in the hall. Must remember to fill the holes in where the thermostat was before I paint as I'm moving it further up the stairs so we don't end up with a cold spot half way upCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I need to look a shovel out of the shed so that I can dig my way into the animal house if the snow is bad!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

i don't know how much good it will do for making stairs more snug but i can tell you the flat i'm in now has really really thick carpet underlay and i can tell you it really helps a lot with keeping this place warm!
all the doors leave light grooves into the carpet when you open them it's so thick but that's nice as i don't need any draught excluders (except a wee bit on a warped door that gets the heat on one side and the cold stairs on the other!) so i highly recommend paying a little extra next time anyone recarpets on nice thick underlay, it's worth it!0 -
I found out if you have a few tea light candles as well as the heating on it makes the room warmer iwas quite surprised ...have a fire alarm though“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
