That is a long journey! I guess schools nowadays will not allow children to go on holidays during term time. You could always ask, the worst they could say is no.
She's just started secondary school, so I don't think she'll want time off no matter how much she wants to see London. OH also has to be back for school on the 4th.
Maybe I'll use it & go to the sale's?0 -
There is always the next £9 Travelodge sale!
Hope you enjoy the sales - London is always great to visit!0 -
Yes, but to get 4 nights you may have to book each night seperately to get them at their cheapestThat is the half term week so will be very popular and I would say if there are any rooms in London they will go very quickly.Thing to do would be make bookings for four separate nights at the lowest FLEXIBLE rate at the t/l of your choice now - then you can cancel them for a refund if the next sale gives you cheaper rates or if there are no sale rates forthcoming but a lower saver rate is available.
When looking through the T/L search engine always check the include disabled rooms box, and if your not too worried about travelling in/out of the central area by tube/train/bus some good prices are available now at places like Croydon, Feltham and Barking. (between £23 and £25 a night at saver rate).
As others have said, not many Saturdays or Central London T/Ls in any of the sales now though.
Thank you all for the advice. It is half term week. My boyfriend works on an army cadet base and his boss will only allow them time off when he is on Stand Down (half term). We are pretty flexible on the days of the week we can have.
I've stayed at Southwark which i really liked and did those nights seperate as i noticed the cost went up if booked all togather.
I shall hold out! hopefully luck will be with me.
Thanks Again everyoneI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
Nothing for two saturday nights in Leeds I wanted but got a £15 room in Sheffield on a Friday night. :T0

Is there a given pattern to how often TL have these sales? I wasn't aware of this sale and by the time I discovered it the rooms had gone back up to £19.50. I am looking for a room at Manchester Airport on the 4th Jan 2011.
Not sure whether to hold off and wait and see if they have another sale before Christmas.

There was a sort of pattern until this one, which should have happened in June as it did last year.
The next £9 will be for Feb,March and April.
Sometimes they backtrack to the same period again such as Nov,Dec,Jan but not at £9.
You can book Man Airport now for £19-50, which might be the wise thing to do.
£19-50 is hardly expensive for a family or double room.0 -

As 2010 has said, there used to be a pattern - last year it was December to Easter that was released on sale prices early September. However this year there seems to be a release every couple of months for shorter periods, like the last one.
T/L used to send out advance notice emails to their registered users, but that also seems to have gone.
Just keep reading MSEs weekly emails for deals is the only way now.
BTW; in case you haven't used it before, unless you have a car with you Manchester Airport T/L is a taxi ride away from either the airport or the rail station.0 -

Thanks ever so much. I knew it was a taxi ride, or their shuttle, away from the airport and apparently taxi or shuttle the price is the same. We are heading off to SW Florida for 3 month so will get the train from Durham to Man Airport.
We might go for Premier Inn for the extra tenner. Premier Inn is coming in at number 15 out of 130 hotels on Trip Advisor, even beating The Hilton - I think Travelodge is number 66. We basically only want to lay our heads ready for the flight the next morn but some of the reviews are a bit doubtful for TL. I am not for all this posh stuff but do like a comfy bed! Any reviews for TL and Premier at Man Airport would be gratefully read.
Thanks to all for their advice and time. Kind regards,

Last time I used the T/L was probably 2 years ago at least - it was a bog standard T/L, neither good or bad - the biggest problem is that there is nothing else nearby in terms of eateries or shops. If you can get the Premier Inn at £29 it will proably be more comfortable.0
