Agreed - also some companies are prepared to pay their clients for a good review - I know I have been approached by a couple of internet e-tailers and offerred £20-£25 for a good review - seems to be the going rate.

The point I was trying to make earlier is a sure sign of a dishonest company is that negative reviews are often followed by a positive, funny that.

I have been waiting now for mine since last November, so I guess Utopia are unlikely to fulfill my order.

So if anyone has taken a bung, I just hope they have the decency to delete their posts.

I thought it relevant to offer the following link to consumer direct...

    consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/making-complaint/

Just add the 'www.' bit at the beginning, as I'm still denied the ability to post links due to recent membership.

Please bear in-mind that to successfully prosecute a complaint, being able to demonstrate that you have acted fairly or given the vendor an opportunity to 'put things right' is an inescapable part of legal process, as frustrating as it can be. However, it would appear that there are a number of unfortunate Utopia customers here that have been waiting excessive periods of time for their goods, doubtless with demonstrable evidence of the this and very good reason to act without further delay.

Edit: Please note that it is not necessary to wait before taking action to protect your standing or request a refund. If you are concerned then taking early action to resolve a dispute, specifying a reasonable period of time, will put you in a better position should you ultimately wish to seek legal redress.

The link I provide also provides templates helping to minimise inconvenience when doing so, and further advice elsewhere on the site. I hope this helps in some small way.

    All the best,

    Brendan.
  • Now getting emails that they are working hard to get orders out over the next 36hrs, but cannot guaruntee before xmas but offering full refund if order is cancelled - maybe I might be lucky and not have lost my money - learn't a valuable lesson anyway - In my opinion the orders from November early Dec (including mine) should be sent out first if they are actually sending out any - but I suppose that wouldn't do them much good as peeps like me aren't going to use them again or recommend them to anyone so I expect it'll be last order in first out - at least they may have a few happy customers if they are for real.
  • It's striking how the bad grammar in the most recent email from Utopia, is very similar to the grammar used by those posters accused on here as being stooges of the company.
  • I am ready for the accusations of conspiracy.

I really hate to admit it after my last post, I was wrong.

I got an email on Sunday with a Fedex Tracking number (pretty soon after I sent a final email stating I was going to report it to Suffolk Police).

The email came from what I can only assume is his private email (btinternet.com). The number checked out as a package to me, it arrived yesterday, I collected it this AM from a neighbour.

The Dyson has arrived, brand new and factory sealed. The packing label is a professional printed label, it was packed in bubble wrap & tape.

I do not know how I can convince any of the skeptics that I am not in any way connected with Utopia except to say I am prepared to give my contact details in confidence (via private message) to one of the 'stalwart' members.

I can only assume that Utopia is a one man affair and he has built up a large enough order to buy in bulk using our funds as the capital, and once he has had delivery despatched out hence the delays.

I understand the logic of not wanting to accept C.Cards as these incur a charge and there would be a delay in him having the 'cash'

I still do have some reservations though, the business model is still a bit 'whiffy' but I think to be fair to all on this forum, nobody has actually stated they have definitely lost their money (except me in the earlier post) or has alleged their credit card has subsequently been abused (although I cancelled mine - not wise a week before Christmas!)

Anyway if Utopia is a total kosher company I wish him all the best and hope that he gets through this bad PR time, if he is a Fraudster then, well I don't think I need to type it.......

All the best and Merry Christmas (note it's not Xmas, very wrong on so many levels!)

    K
  • There's hope for me yet then Karlos911 - I'll not hold my breath though.
Will continue to send emails - each one getting stronger

When you have been on MSE as an old hand you get an instinct for companies who get staff or friends to join up and post fake reviews. There have been some spectacular busts of companies over the years including Gary Cooper and the lady who ran the party business. Sometimes us old hands get it wrong but rarely. I'd be the first to apologise if this was the case.

People who write reviews as stooges do so in a language and style that is instantly recognisable. They are often in such a rush to post their point of view that they rarely punctuate and use proper paragraphs. The rest of the post is always in marketing speak.

Let's review this thread of new people:

As you'll see most of the new posters have registered, posted and disappeared. Sure there are some I've listed that are genuine.

MSE could do worse than to trace the IP addresses of all the new posters who have disappeared to see if they all originate from cabbage county.

But what seems to give it away is the monosyllabic, unpunctuated and unparagraphed posts:

"hi i am a new member and i do not take kindly to being criticised. i ordered from utopia. i emailed them and John/Anthony replied and offered me £10 off if I paid by bank transfer. i paid and am awaiting my dyson which arrive today. i am genuine."

What interests me is how some people refer to Mr Ensinger as John and others as Anthony?

Actually, not all of us have dissapeared, but as someone that runs a forum, there is no point coming back to say, again, that my missus did get her Dyson, and that I thought the comms with Utopia was rubbish but whatever... because people like you and a couple of other posters have nothing better to do then dispute my claim...

I don't give a flying **** about Utopia, or your disputing my claim of having received the Dyson my wife stupidly ordered... I posted on here to reassure others that if they did purchase something via bacs (stupid) that not 'all' was lost... and I'm commenting again now because your stupid smug !!!!!!!! posting is starting to really annoy me... if you have ordered something from Utopia and have not received it, file a claim with the UK small claims court - it's simply and cheap and a hell of a lot more effective than sitting on here making yourself look stupid whilst practically calling me, and others, liars...

Most of the people that have posted in this thread have actually taken delivery of their product...

I'd suggest don't order from Utopia, as who orders from a company that says they have broken the credit card transaction mechanism and to 'please send cash' (aside from my wife, and a hand full of you muppets)

hell people, get on with life... go dig out runways or something, lord knows BAA could use some of your hot air! (I know, it was a dad joke, but I thought it was pretty funny)

Such claims do nothing to help people make informed, balanced decisions and deciding what action to take based on individual circumstances.

Hopefully the link I have posted above for informed, current, and specific advice and support in all such circumstances, will serve readers of this forum considerably better than jaded accusatory posts that do nothing to help. With the many smears and alternative angles suggesting that I and others reporting delivery of goods are, in all manner of possible ways, all in league with Mr Ensinger is descending into farce.

People of a more mature disposition, experiencing delays in delivery and responses to emails, have plenty of reading material here to decide for themselves who may be genuine, with the appropriate judgement call and course of action to take.

Like yourself, I would encourage this, and not waste time gratuitously posting groundless accusations and defamation which achieves nothing other than a pat on the back from deeply-polarised brethren.

For the sake of those looking for balanced comment and support from the MSE community, I hope this thread can get back on track and better serve the purposes for which it is intended.

    All the best,

    Brendan.

Hey at the end of the day it was your money and your stress. Whilst something is going on with Utopia and it may not be an ultimate rip off, there is something to warn consumers about. I'm not going to stop being critical or dissecting posts because of a few people that are annoyed.

And nice language. Really beefs up your argument.
