Hi! Just read this and I may be able to help!
I did a chinese cookery course a while ago, and we did the minced pork in lettuce leaves - using iceberg lettuce.
We were taught to loosen an outside leaf and hold it under a running tap so it gently filled with water. Then the weight of the water brought it off in one piece!
    Good eh?!

    Hope this helps ;)

Thanks for this chick! :A I knew there must be a way cos I have the lettuce wraps in my local chinese! Don't suppose you know a veggie chinese lettuce wrap recipe?

Dont quote me on the activia.... it may have been gelatin free that I was thinking?? but ive none in the fridge to check.

That's right dizzy. Activa ff are gelatin free so I can eat them (I'm veggie) but they do have aspartame in them sadly.

  • I looked on Tesco on-line but will look in store. I would take the word of the packaging over the website any day, so have added some vanilla to my online order! Looking forward to it already.

We avoid apartame as a rule as there are links to children's brain development. We have very close relatives with Alzehimers across a number of generations and "branches" of blood relatives. We are trying for another baby and so want to get as many chemicals out of my system as is possible. I have never given the children chemical sweetners (until joining SW!) they have always had a little bit of natural sugar, rather than routinely being given "no-added sugar brands". Please remember that this is just my personal opinion and I would never aim to advise anyone else.

This however is the reason why I am at SW in the first place. Sugar may be natural but it is also my big weakness:rotfl:

I totally understand where you're coming from with your views on it....like you say its down to personal choice. I dont take any fizzy drinks as the meds im on for seizures since the surgery make them taste VILE  so thats quite lucky....cuts the aspartame prob out there lol. A lot of people who have Migraines say sucralose is the devils spawn and there is some real bad press about that re migraines but ive found that affects me less than the other stuff. But in an ideal world - we wouldnt want to be having ANY of it......But then Life would be pretty damn boring food wise (especially if you have a sweet tooth & an expanding waistline like me :o :rotfl:)

BUT as for the ONKEN thats the 2 sweeteners it lists Ive googled and its def not aspartame on the carton :D x

So too do most of the regular "options" except the caramel one. Is there a syn difference with the "Indulgence" options? As there are a couple of these.
    Thanks
    Alfie

Was doing so well yesterday, had normal brekkie, bowl of melon & was contemplating sw chips, egg, beans for tea. Thennnnnnn Hubby comes in with chinese, meal for 1 for son & meal for 2 for us [including crispy duck & crispy seaweed]. Did enjoy it though :D.

Sooooooooooooo have decided to just go with the flow at weekends and be super good in the week. So not gonna bother counting syns but will still post diary as I will still be writing everything down.
Having roast beef & yorkshire pud for lunch with lots of super frees [cauli, carrots, cabbage, onions] so it will still be 1/3 as usual then there will be melon later so it will hopefully balance out. I do tend to have lots of veg when having chinese as well so is probably healthier than what I was eating before [thats what I'm convincing myself anyway :rotfl:].

Oh dear waffled a bit :o
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • Green day for me:

B - 2 x eggs fried in frylight on HM WM toast, marg (1syn)
L - 3 x pepper halves stuffed with SF tomato&basil risotto, new pots roasted in frylight with garlic and rosemary, carrots and runner beans
D - SF veg curry, rice, riata made with 0% greek yog and mint, mango chutney (2syns)
Snacks - banana, activa FF yog, cheese (HEA), sugar free jelly (0.5syns), LF creme fraiche (1.5syns), 2 x oranges, kellogs fibre plus (HEB)
Drinks - NAS squash, water, coffee
    Exercise - 20min walk

    Total syns = 5

I could do with a few more syns, but as I still have my dinner and all my snacks bar the banana and yog to go I don't think I can fit any in! :rotfl:

I do have some mini onion bahjees and veg samosas in freezer from Morrisons. Does anyone know the syns of these? They are in the fresh aisle but I froze some.

Just a quick Q - "is this a red day?"

    Break- banana & yog
    lunch eggs, bacon beans mushrooms
snacks strawbs & yog, will have pineapple and yog in a bit
Dinner - was going to do chicken & Mushroom lasagne, but ran out of mushrooms (!) So now changing to leftover chicken stirfried in mexican spices with taco shells ( 2,5each) and peppers, mushrooms onions lettuce. Corn cob on the side

    HEB fibre plus
    HEA milk

Is this a red day? Is it adequate for a red day? Do I need to eat anything else? ( not well planned actually, considering ive been shopping everyday its not worked out too well)

    Evening all,

Had a very busy weekend, the annual cheese festival was in town :)

I've taken the weekend off from SW because of this, I didn't purposely stuff myself but I did enjoy what I wanted to eat and made sure I didn't feel guilty or bad about it. I fully expect to gain 1 or 2lb but I'll soon shift it again.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday? looking forward to tomorrow as we have the day off!

    Hi everyone,

Well i lost 0.5lb this week, which considering what i've eaten this week is good going. I will be trying harder this week, bar the chinese buffet i go to on Thursday night.

I was thinking of doing Success Express all week, to try and kick start a bit.. anyone know the idea behind it - is it just 2/3 superfree food with every meal??

Lynz - i think you would need to syn your beans and corn on the cob for a red day... Beans 100g 4 syns, corn on the cob average 7 syns.. i don't eat either so i'm sure someone might be able to confirm this...
