Morning all, not a good day yesterday as only had one meal. Was busy day and went to concert in London so avoided all the bad food but meant I didn't eat dinner just big lunch before we left.
Today u had scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and wholemeal bread for breakfast and then an apple. Not sure yet what having for lunch and dinner but will be staying on plan.

Fat free strawberry or vanilla onken (much nicer than muller:p) dont have aspartame in its sucralose instead (I can tolerate this as it doesnt give me headaches like too much of the other does) I think fat free activia has sucralose aswell and they are free to eat on plan.

You could also get a plain 0% fat greek yog, or fromage frais and flavour it with vanilla essence or a pack of 2 syn choc options powder? ;)
  • Dizzyk thanks! Never thought of adding chocolate options - are they 2 syns for the whole pack of mix? Will add these to my shopping list.

Also will get the Onken yogs - love these - but never looked out for the fat free ones since starting SW. Are these free?

All the Activias I have looked at have had aspartame so will go back and look again... I think the supermarket staff think I am slightly mad as I have spent far too long in there recently!
  • Just looked online and both the Onken strawberry and vanilla in fat free varieties have aspartame....

yes the ff strawb & ff vanilla are free :D really lovely!! If you part freeze the vanilla one it tastes like ice cream.

choc options are 2 syns for the whole pack :D the white choc one in greek yog is a close match to cream....really nice with banana for a comfort filling pud.

Sainsburys use sucralose in their diet drinks and a lot ofother products rather than aspartame......its the only supermarket that does

Dont quote me on the activia.... it may have been gelatin free that I was thinking?? but ive none in the fridge to check.
  • So too do most of the regular "options" except the caramel one. Is there a syn difference with the "Indulgence" options? As there are a couple of these.
    Thanks

  • Hello everyone,
Good luck with the fairy avoidance.
I made the Aloo Gobi from Curry Heaven last night, with the yogurt relish which is supposed to go with the lamb koftas in the same book. Had it with basmati rice and a cold lager. Lovely. I lost confidence as I was cooking it and added a teaspoon of oil, but I don't think I needed to.
I had a luxurious lie in this morning thanks to OH, the first week back at school had left me exhausted. Feel a bit brighter now, am grilling some quorn sausages, going to have a brunch of WM toast, q sausages and spaghetti in tomato sauce - comfort food for me!
I am interested in the Aspartame question: I have always tried to eat "healthily" (although high in fat and calories!), and feel uncomfortable about some of the sweeteners etc in some of the food I am eating now. I would really like this way of eating to become a habit long term, so I don't really want to be using Aspartame either.

  • Another thing(!): I have fallen into the bad habit of hopping onto the scales every time I go into the bedroom this week. I can't believe the variation within a few hours! I seem to be able to swing 5lbs in a day!
Should I throw my scales away or is this normal and the reason I shouldn't be weighing myself at every opportunity??!!

    Hi Liz
The only real issue I have with aspartame (as none of the theories have really been proven....its just the same as everything else they keep doing studies on) is that I know its one of a few things that does trigger my migraines if i have it to excess, so I dont have it often - but I dont go out of my way to make it a mission to make my life complicated in avoiding it totally either. I have to attend pinderfields neurology unit re my miraines and they put together this food avoidance plan to work out how to reduce things alongside the meds after the surgery, and we discussed aspartame there....they didnt seem that concerned by it??

Im puzzled by the onken yogs tho as my pot here does say added ingredients sweeteners Acesulfame-k, sucralose. Googled the 1st one and thats not aspartame?
