This is going to sound really stupid but how do you cook a stir fry??

I tried to do one tonight, I had chicken, a pack of stir fry veg from the supermarket and some noodles. I chopped the chicken, cooked that in the wok with some fry light then put the veg in and cooked that and added the cooked noodles and some soy sauce.

It did not taste of anything, even the veg was tasteless mush.

    Any suggestions???

I always add garlic and ginger to mine and a bit of chilli.....the soy only gives a salty taste really but nothing much else:o

Oh dear. I had a really naughty chocolate fest of a week. Couldn't make WI last night. Knew it'd carry on and snowball if I didn't go to class this week, so arranged to go to the consultant's thursday morning class.

I lost 4.5lbs. Consultant swears the difference between morning and evening weights is not that much - I beg to differ ;)

Having been the very antithesis of slimming world this week, I had to explain to the group all about my wonderful success (!) and be paraded as some kind of slimming world guru, as not only did I get my 1/2 stone certificate (was due that last week) but also slimmer of the week, and was that enough? Noo-ooooooO - I also got slimmer of the month with 11lbs

(Quite how SOTM happened I haven't the foggiest, since I have only been at class for 3 weeks!)

So... yeah... ah... my name is skint slimmer and I am a fraud! :o

By the way, I made that tomato soup and it is flipping lovely :T

    LMAO :rotfl::rotfl:

Apologies for my absence.....so many things going on at the mo and Ive got my dreaded Endoscopy tomorrow so Ive been rather distracted :oAlso Ive not heard from my ratbag son yet  so cant tell you anything more re the cookie thing yet :( kids!!

On a lighter note I made WI tonight and have lost 1lb....I was a bit miffed as I really wanted a bit more than this, but the whole group gave me a good talking seeing as I cant exercise - and walk slower than a snail on the crutches (tho Im quicker now than I was on the zimmer lol)

so with my sensible head on I guess I cant expect the 2lb+ a week I was getting before the last Brain Op when I was swimming 50 lengths 5 days a week :o.
Ive got 4 weigh ins to my hols and 3.5 to get me my 2stone award......so thats my current realistic aim now.

And I shall (after tomorrows nasty hospital) make sure I get back to posting on a daily basis!! x x

Hi Dizzy, don't worry about the 'cookie thing' I was more concerned about you being MIA :D

Good luck with the op tomorrow, my hubby & my Mum have both had one and its not a nice thing to go through but will hopefully get to the problem so it can be sorted. Will be thinking about you and sending healing thoughts, Good Luck x x x

P.S. do you think they could sedate a few of these pesky fairies while they're at it :rotfl:

Dizzy - good luck at the hospital today, hope it goes as well as it can and congrats on the weight loss.

Still suffering with tonsillitis and back at work yesterday and today which hasn't helped. Don't think I have been eating enough this week as really don't feel like eating but plan to rest and eat lots of fruit and veg over the weekend.

Sounds like you cooked it for too long. It's all in the timing, or even in multiple woks/frying pans. I do it in two pans.

My basic noodles go like this
    Cook your noodles and drain.
Chop up your chicken into really thin strips, pencil width or less. Soak em in soy and chilli.
Get your veg ready and any garlic/ginger you want to use.
Get your meat pan really hot and then add the chicken. It should make noise and steam. Stir it furiously and get it cooked (a couple of minutes). Take it off the heat.
Get your other pan really hot - put in oil/frylight. Add your veg and stir furiously again. More steam and noise. Your veg should still be crisp, crunchy and a bit browned, a couple of minutes tops.
Add the noodles and mix em through the veg. Tip in more soy (oyster sauce is nice at this point - so is Chinese rice wine). Tip your meat into your noodles and mix it up some more. Serve it.

On a different note - Good luck for later Dizzy.
