Our consultant (Sinead Carlin) told us on Monday night that she was at an SW meeting for consultants and they were told that a meeting should have approximately a 2 hour duration including weigh-ins. Our meetings do usually take this long and it is a very successful group. Anyone who has reached received an award, half stone, stone, club 10 etc. is applauded by the group. She gives the overall weight loss for the group. She asks who's had a good/bad week - how did they cope with it. We have a bit of brainstorming - e.g. we have a couple of schoolgirls in the class and everybody threw in ideas of what they could take for lunch without feeling "different" from their classmates. If somebody feels disappointed, she encourages everyone to suggest what they could try for the next week, gets them to fill in the diary and bring it back and she will also have a private word with them if they prefer.
This week we have a challenge to eat at least 7 speed or superspeed foods per day for the next 7 days. We have tasting sessions where members prepare something, and everyone gets to try new recipes and check out the syns and how to deal with chocolate cravings etc.! It's always an enjoyable session and the time flies!
Because this is the first group that I joined, I just thought that they would all be pretty much the same. If your consultant isn't motivating you I would be looking around for someone who does - that's the whole point of image therapy! There are good consultants out there - I've been lucky enough to find one first time!
Sounds like you have a brilliant consultant!:)
Our Consultant is good with the new members; but if you've been doing it for a long time; she doesn't seem to be interested in helping you when you struggle with the Plan. Unfortunately our area has a lot of groups that are run by one consultant and the other groups aren't reachable on public transport.:(0 -

oh dear. Have lost my slimming mojo this week - been feeling sorry for myself because of a)star week and b) cystitis - so chocolate overload. *sigh* Can't even get to group tomorrow night as I'm working. Torn between going to another group and sucking it up and just skipping this week, which I know I really shouldn't do as I'll struggle to get back into it.
gah.Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0 -

There is a weigh in 7pm-7.30pm ish and then the consultant goes through everyone's weight loss that week and asks them if they have any comments about it and perhaps makes a vague comment about something they say and that is the end of the class.
I was expecting a "talk" about something each week, even if it is only a few minutes but a general discussion about the plans and good things people have found etc.
I am not 100% sure about the consultant anyhow and I can see me losing the motivation to go with her if that is all the classes are going to be.
That could be my class too! Obviously the consultants are trained to a formula but it shouldn't be to the point of boredom. I'll keep going because it's working and I have met some nice people there but I do know what you mean. What worries me is that lots of new people came last week and our consultant said she might need to split the group. That bothers me because I chose it specially because of time and venue. This week we have a challenge to eat at least 7 speed or superspeed foods per day for the next 7 days.0 -

Why not try asking questions of the Consultant immediately after she has finished doing the rounds of the weight losses/gains while the whole group is still sitting there. This should start off some food talk, syn discussion, new foods on the market etc etc.
As a Consultant I used to find it incredibly hard to find something new to talk about every week and encouraged members to bring in empty packs from something they'd particularly enjoyed so that I could find out a syn value for the group.
There are any number of things I'm sure you'd like to discuss, so start the ball rolling and see where it goes
As for splitting the group, this is quite normal when it gets to a certain size and becomes unmanageable in the time allowed. Usually all it means is that instead of a 7pm meeting, she will very likely have a 5pm one immediately followed by the 7pm one. It's surprising how well it works as lots of people may start to come to the earlier one (especially during the dark, winter nights) leaving the later one for the workers who don't finish till later.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Morning
I haven't been on since my around the time of my birthday...I did stay mostly on plan though, well until last week! The week before last I did the EE week that Mrs M kindly planned for me (well I changed a couple of things about) and lost 1.5lbs so was very pleased.....then last week I completely lost it, not helped by ds2's birthday and a few unnanounced guests, I ended up having an indian take-away, KFC, Birthday cake and buffet food and then a night of far too much beer!!!!!! Anyway all that led to a gain of 3lbs:(
I have been back on track since Monday although went a little over syns both days, but I have started off better today and had weetabix for breakfast:D I have also made dinners for the next 4 days and will make a gallon of soup today for lunches over the next few days........hopefully with food prepared already I will be more likely to stay on track.
I'm tired lately as the baby has decided she doesn't like sleeping anymore, I am also a bit stressed, still waiting for a visit from AF and am hoping it's not for a particular reason that it hasn't arrived yet;) 5wks and counting!!
I really hope I can get a good loss this week, I could do with it.
xxUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
i just got from weigh in - 0.5, better than a gain i suppose. I know the answer though i need to shift my bum and get some excercise !!!!!!0

I have spent the past 15 minutes trying to get to the "my journey" section and enter this week's weight. The same thing happened last week. When I get in from class at 8.45 I have enough other things to do without faffing about refreshing, pressing go, going back to the home page, being told "page not available". Is it just me or does everyone find it is terminally slow now? I'm off to have a shower and tbh I don't need to see a little graph so may just dump the website. *grumpy* me? Can't even see a "contact us" page - perhaps there's a good reason for that?
I find the website fine all day but VERY slow after my weigh-in......assumed there are lots of Tuesday night groups and we are all trying to update at more or less the same time??? :rotfl:
However our C said SW are doing a complete overhaul of the website over the next few weeks, so maybe that is causing problems???
I managed to get a lift one way last night (thanks to those who answered my question about paying for missed classes) and only had to walk home, so that wasn't too bad.
I lost a pound which was okay.
The weighing lady said "Ooo - you're nearly at your 1/2 stone award"............
I had to point out I got that in week two and have been going in the opposite direction (up) since then:rotfl::o
