There is a weigh in 7pm-7.30pm ish and then the consultant goes through everyone's weight loss that week and asks them if they have any comments about it and perhaps makes a vague comment about something they say and that is the end of the class.
I was expecting a "talk" about something each week, even if it is only a few minutes but a general discussion about the plans and good things people have found etc.
I am not 100% sure about the consultant anyhow and I can see me losing the motivation to go with her if that is all the classes are going to be.
that is the general format of classes I think. It can depend how many people stay, because to go through the losses and gains of 40 people can take a long time, whereas if only 20 stay the consultant has more time to dedicate to each or to a group discussion. Our consultant asked us a couple of weeks ago for ideas of things we could discuss and there was a stunned silence - I think it does work both ways! Also, it's always a little difficult at first (imo) until you get a few people that you particularly like to sit with and chat to; the time goes faster then while others are being weighed, and that is the time when hints and tips are exchanged too! I know it should be an exchange between the whole group but it often isn't just because the group is a mix of shy retiring people and outgoing noisy people. Then there are food tasting nights sometimes, and such like. I like my current group a thousand times better than my previous one, when I felt much as you describe.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

Ours is similar, except there is quite an in-depth chat with each person! I found it a bit odd at first but in a way it's good to see that other people have the same pitfalls as me - i've been big my entire life so it's nice to know that slimmer people have 'ate my weight in chocolate' days too! That said, i've been going to slimming clubs (mostly WW) for a long time, and i really have no interest in the 'you should get your fruit and veg and water' chats over and over again.
Also, WW used to drive me nuts with 75% of the talk being 'the latest WW product is...' ... i don't think relying on prepackaged junk food, however low calorie, is key to successful healthy weight loss! So it's lovely to NOT have the emphasis on that!
Our leader does usually do a few words on a theme of the week though - last week it was amount of exercise needed to work off the cals from this and that junk food, problem was quite a few people said , ooh, is that all i'd need to do to work it off?!' ... LOL0 -

right, I've had it up to here with the website since they introduced the PIN. I have spent the past 15 minutes trying to get to the "my journey" section and enter this week's weight. The same thing happened last week. When I get in from class at 8.45 I have enough other things to do without faffing about refreshing, pressing go, going back to the home page, being told "page not available". Is it just me or does everyone find it is terminally slow now? I'm off to have a shower and tbh I don't need to see a little graph so may just dump the website. *grumpy* me? Can't even see a "contact us" page - perhaps there's a good reason for that?:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

I am not 100% sure about the consultant anyhow and I can see me losing the motivation to go with her if that is all the classes are going to be.
Our consultant (Sinead Carlin) told us on Monday night that she was at an SW meeting for consultants and they were told that a meeting should have approximately a 2 hour duration including weigh-ins. Our meetings do usually take this long and it is a very successful group. Anyone who has reached received an award, half stone, stone, club 10 etc. is applauded by the group. She gives the overall weight loss for the group. She asks who's had a good/bad week - how did they cope with it. We have a bit of brainstorming - e.g. we have a couple of schoolgirls in the class and everybody threw in ideas of what they could take for lunch without feeling "different" from their classmates. If somebody feels disappointed, she encourages everyone to suggest what they could try for the next week, gets them to fill in the diary and bring it back and she will also have a private word with them if they prefer.
This week we have a challenge to eat at least 7 speed or superspeed foods per day for the next 7 days. We have tasting sessions where members prepare something, and everyone gets to try new recipes and check out the syns and how to deal with chocolate cravings etc.! It's always an enjoyable session and the time flies!
Because this is the first group that I joined, I just thought that they would all be pretty much the same. If your consultant isn't motivating you I would be looking around for someone who does - that's the whole point of image therapy! There are good consultants out there - I've been lucky enough to find one first time!A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit!:rotfl:
Joined SW 13/9/10 - wanted to lose 56lb and lost 26lb! Rejoined on 9/1/12 having gained 17lb of my loss!!!
Want to lose 50lb. 50 - 8.5 = 41.5 to go!0 -
Please, please tell me - what is dynorod soup?0

oh dear - as suspected i put on 0.5.
not too bad i guess considering meal out and choc attack lol0 -

I've not had any problems accessing the website; but I do definitely agree that since they've introduced the Pin system that it is incredibly slow!:(0
