Someone asked for the recipe for the tomato soup with pickled onion.....well here it is:-

    Tomato Soup (syn free)
    2 tin chopped tomatoes
    1 tin carrots
    1 tin baked beans
    ½ pt stock (optional)
1 large pickled onion (yes, pickled – it’s the secret ingredient)

Empty all tins into a bowl, add stock and pickled onion and just blend. As good as Heinz but free
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Yay - made it to my Club 10 today!!!:A Doing extra easy and am finding it not too bad at all! I'm one of the lucky so-and-so's that don't really get chocolate cravings so I haven't been using very many syns but I'm thinking that there's no real weight loss benefit in this?
Is there any easy way to search the thread for recipe ideas? Thanx!!
WELL DONE YOU!!!!! You really are a lucky so and so not getting chocolate cravings.

My consultant always says that not having any syns does not necessarily speed up weight loss because the plan works on having free food, healthy extras and syns - that's the synnergy bit! Also if you start off early into plan having very few or no syns then you have nothing to cut down on later on (does that make sense? sorry if it doesn't).
  • hmm. odd day today (i'm off work for half term, it always throws my eating patterns out of whack).

B: alpen light bar (counted 2 as a B yesterday)
L: pasta with mushrooms, tomatoes, 28g cheddar (A), tuna. I count myself as vegetarian 99.999% of the time but I have been CRAVING meat for about a month and it was either that or fall off the wagon completely. Yes, I am a guilty not-vegetarian today. :( . 2 weight watchers eclairs (8)
D: Banana, 2 apples, FF yoghurt, dried apricots (B), and either 2 slices WW bread (toasted) with marmite, or 10 almonds, depending whether i'm hungry (B). Don't really feel like i should have a full evening meal after stuffing myself at lunch so hopefully this will do!

Who asked about the creme fraiche/fromage frais substitution? I would say yes, go for fat free yoghurt or quark, but add it at the end and just heat it through so it doesn't separate. Though even if it does separate it isn't spoiled it will taste just the same.

And who said they'd "only" lost 3lb over 2 weeks? That's a perfectly good loss, it's above the average of 1 lb per week. Slow but sure is best, they say.

Well done losers, hugs for the rest and welcome to the newcomers!

Thanks for that blackberry-rum, I wanted to know about a substitue for creme fraiche. I should be able to enjoy dauphinois again with my HE cheese. BTW, there's a 50p coupon in the Asda magazine off Locheese. Anyone tried it?

I lost 3lbs over 2 wks too. I was delighted because I'd been on holiday for 5 days of that. And now I know it's above average, I'm extra delighted:D

.............The chicken cacciatore - I always thought that was chicken and mushrooms, and have just googled to confirm. The recipe has changed over the past 20 or so years apparently but the original italian one involved lots of mushrooms as well as the chicken. That would be a nice variation I would think.

    ..............

well i just made my bodge job version of hunters chicken/cacciatore and it was very tasty.
it was ever so slightly spicy though as i only had mixed beans in taco sauce in my cupboard!!
but all very tasty and all syn free. had it with half a pouch of uncle bens long and wild rice though so that is half a syn.
the rest i have put into a lunch box for tomorrow

also i agree that mushrooms would be very nice in this too

  • Ooooh hello. I've had a hell of a day. Toddler wouldn't sleep all day and his eczema is really bad so he's scratching like mad and hurting himself. He was bleeding all over people at playgroup this morning... nightmare!
Anyway - can't remember what I ate at the weekend but I wasn't bad....
Wanted to share my discovery. It's from a youtube channel about cooking from the depression with a 90 year old sharing her family recipes from back then. This is sooooooo SW.

    Peppers and eggs (lots)

Slice at least four peppers (more red and yellow than green)
Heat olive oil (I used 2 Tbspns) in a pan
Fry the peppers slowly until they are all soft and melty.
Beat four eggs and pour into the peppers. Stir until set.
Eat warm with nice bread.....(not so SW)

anyhoo - Today - good day I think.

Blackberry, re your comment about thickening gravy, I believe you can used use instant mash to do this on SW. Haven't tried it, I'm a red girl but think it might be free on green and EE.

Well done to all you losers, seem to be some good consistent losses around atm.
