I have been a tad naughty all week - can't seem to rein myself in from having stupid syns I don't even enjoy  e.g. last night I was house sitting and on the one hand I polished my halo for eating baked beans mixed with spaghetti hoops, (a childhood favourite and just about the only syn free food in this particular house) on the other I finished the evening with two slices of toast and butter, one with jam on  So I don't expect to be able to get away with it again this week. *sigh*
Don't give yourself a hard time - I find star week makes me permanently hungry.:( and I will eat every bit of chocolate in sight. On the chocolate front I try and eat things like the chocolate and orange Hi Fi's or the Kelloggs Fibre Plus as my b choices in addition to using all my syns for chocolate!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Been craving mexican food but can't 'afford' the astronomical amount of points tortilla wraps cost (i tend to save them for chocolate!) - so I made a lasagne with layers of spicy mexican quorn (chicken) mix (with a bit of FF greek yog stirred in) and pasta, topped with salsa (2 syns) and 56g of proper cheddar (2x A choice) - it was yummy!
I was thinking that quorn being free on all days; if you had it with boiled rice; then it would be only the sauce you needed to syn??
Are those the new spicy quorn chunks you were using and are they syn free?? Also is that a home-made salsa?? thanks. Sounds like a very yummy lasagne.0 -

Right, due to a complete lack of inspiration what to make for this week's meals, I decided to have a go at Dynorod soup. Obviously, with there only being me, I didnt add everything that's recommended, but the ingredients I used are: garlic, onion (these two fried in a splash of mushroom ketchup to begin); tin of tomatoes, a quarter of a swede, a quarter of a butternut squash, 2 vegetable oxo cubes (these ingredients all cooked until tender-ish); a red pepper, a courgette (these two added to previous and cooked until tender). Then I blitzed all this lot along with the contents of a (yuck) tin of carrots. I then added a drained tin of green lentils and a drained tin of kidney beans.
I set out a small bowlful for me and heated it. Very dreary and I didn't like the lumps of lentil and beans. So I blitzed it all again, and added a handful of small pickled onions (as with p.o. soup, which I do enjoy). To be honest, it's not much better. And I have my BIGGEST BOWL full to the brim of the stuff . Dammit I think I'm gonna have to take it along to class on Tuesday and let everyone have a share; it's not doing it for me and even if it has the reputed bottom-area result I can't eat meals that don't taste good, it's a waste of a mealtime. Sorry, I sound like a moaner now, but it is DREARY0 -

Blackberry, I think you need a tin of baked beans to give it the Heinz flavour.
Hmm maybe .... but as I haven't eaten tinned soup since I have been cooking for myself (40+ years!) I wouldn't know what Heinz soup tastes like - it's just that my usual home made soups actually HAVE a taste and this one is just a thick liquid
I do use baked beans when I make the pickled onion soup - that has fewer ingredients and tastes like a nice tomato-y soup.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

God no, i very rarely buy the pre-seasoned quorn as it's SO expensive.
I fried off some onions (in frylight) and added quorn pieces, stirred in lots of mexican seasoning herb mix (i have a pre-mixed blend but it's stuff like chilli, cumin, oregano, garlic), then a can of tomatoes. Simmer down til it thickens. Take off the heat and allow to cool slightly before stirring in a couple of tablespoons of FF yoghurt/fromage frais. Oh, i put some defrosted frozen corn in as well - you could add peppers etc if you fancied too.
Meanwhile cook lasagne sheets (I used 8, in a dish that serves 2-3) in boiling water til just soft - i then drain but keep them in cold water as it helps stop them sticking together.
Layer the dish lasangne - quorn - lasagne - quorn, finishing with lasagne. Top with salsa (you could use homemade to make it free, I just used the stuff out of a jar for 1/2 syn per tablespoon). Top with cheese - I'm on green so had 56g grated cheddar per portion (2xA's). Bake in the oven at 200*c ish til the cheese is all brown and bubbling
I wouldn't have it with rice as the lasagne gives you carbs already (and i eat way too many carbs and not enough veggies!). I served with sweet potato chunks (nuked to soften, then crisped up in a pan with some cajun style seasoning), grilled mushrooms, broccoli and carrots.0 -
