    well done losers!!

ooh went 2 over my syns last night - just had to have that packet of magic stars lol

    going to dinner tonight in an italian - i have the menu already and i think i have picked out the best choices. i cant list them all as it is a giant menu but this is what i was thinking of having;

starter was a toss up between parma ham with melon and minestrone soup - will prob go for the soup in this weather

main - fettucine cappricco which is noodles with sweet peppers, mushrooms, onions and a dash of tomato sauce

maybe add a side salad. i think most of this is free food but will add some syns for fresh pasta and olive oil

    does that sound ok?

will stick to diet coke and obviously will have a small piece of bday cake instead of an italian dessert (really want tiramisu lol)

Just a quick comment: Last week when I was away I was pleasantly suprised how good a side salad tasted just drizzled with a little (free) balsamic vinegar. I've had it since at home and it's good. I think you're right about adding oil because it'll be in the cooking but it may not be fresh pasta unless that's a house speciality.

    Morning (just!!) everyone

Ive just about caught up with the thread.....Its fatal missing more than a day on here lol

Well done to you Losers :T and big massive hugs the the lurgified....Its flipping awful and wipes you out totally:(

VIXIE i had a rubbish time trying to eat when it hit me....couldnt manage anything other than a bit of pasta n sauce and pudding rice for a few days (mmmmm we wont go there tho after me poisoning myself the other day :o) and Im struggling now to find an appetite as my tum trouble has flared up again with it all.

Well I went to WI yesterday - not expecting anything better than a STS with the rubbish hardly eating all week .....But I actually lost 1lb :p so I was very happy with that.

Plus in the 50p raffle I won the new mag & the new food directory.....Bargain :T:T

Im playing safe on the food front again today staying on greenday as Im still having trouble swallowing from the food poison puke fest.
So Im trying little and often soft foods rather than 3 main meals while things settle again.

Ive had half a nana (not a ninja one lol) and some yog and going to try some pasta n sauce in a bit then maybe the inside of a JP mashed with mad cow & quark and see how that goes.

Ive also bought a butternut squash never had one before so im thinking maybe make a soup of some sort??? My appetite is just soooooo rubbish at the mo but I think thats because Ive not been eating too much - and my body is getting used to it....NOT GOOD!!!! need to get it sorted out as my thyroid will start complaining straight away if I dont and make me get mahooosive lol

DIZZYK - butternut squash is really nice roasted in the oven with some peppers, mushrooms and onions. it will go nice and soft if left in there long enough.

  • You don't need to peel it... funnily enough I was having this convo last night at work as I LOVE LOVE LOVE roasted butternut squash.

Whenyou cut it open, itll have seeds inside, scoop those out, cut into nice strips and roast....mmmmmmmmm..... I'm having a roasty on sunday so I'm going to roast this with parsnips and carrots.

Any ideas how I can do roast potatos etc keeping it relatively syn free?

Try the visualisation exercise that is on the web site - I find it really helps.
I have always thought that no matter what I did, other people lose weight but I don't - I am happy to say I have proved myself wrong:j:j
Just before I started SW online, I had lots of tests through the doctor to see if there was an underlying medical condition to cause this problem, but I think I can now say I had a block in my head - it is unblocked now!!

Thank you for this, I go along to class with my mum and sister, this week my mum was slimmer of the week and last week it was my sister. I was happy for them, but on the same hand I've seen what they both eat and felt I deserved to lose more weight than them :o:(

I am type 1 diabetic as well so my weight lose is going to be slow, I did just think it would be a little quicker.

But, I will try the website when I get home from work this evening, I've only ever used it to check syn values so will investigate it more.

Just par boil for a few mins then drain and 'rough up' in the pan, sprinkle with salt & any other seasoning (rosemary & garlic is nice) spray a tin with fry light and spray your spuds *I also do sweet potatoes but dont parboil these. roast in the oven as normal......re spray when you turn them - lovely SYN FREE ROASTIES nomnomnom

Thankyou for the squash prep tips :) x

does anyone have a particular food which you think really helps with your weight loss?

I have been eating alot of strawberries as they are a superspeed food but it is costing abit of a fourtune and was thinking i could try something else for a boost?

I've just been checking out SS too. Can't promise about weightloss but things like butterbeans and some other pulses are Superspeed and they can be very much cheaper (especially if you have time to cook your own rather than canned). Ideal for adding to casseroles as the cold weather comes plus I think this time of the year strawberries get rather tasteless. Also I bought pink grapefruit from Asda this week (I think 6 for £2). These are SS too. I'm happy to eat them plain but you could always add a bit of sweetner. Surprisingly I noticed petit pois and garden peas are also SS. I think all are cheaper than strawberries.

melon is a great booster food and not as expensive as fresh strawbs, have you thought about getting your berries frozen as they do work out a fair bit cheaper. do check though as some have sugar added, The ones from asda and sainsburys are ok - thats where I get mine.
