Maybe you're going to a wedding - you need to try and get a copy of the menu so that you can choose your meal. Use the Food Directory or syns online to make an estimate of the syns involved in the meal.
Then take into account all the drinks you will have (don't be shy, tell it like it is lol). A glass of champagne for the toast, a couple of glasses of wine with the meal etc etc. Work out the syns and add them to your running total.
If you're going to the evening 'do' tot up the syns....yada, yada!!
At the end of your calculations you could easily have 60, 70 or even 100 syns - this is your total for the day.
The hard part comes once you've been drinking and are starting to show signs of 'wear' - the adding up can go a bit pear-shaped but try to persevere
The idea is that you keep counting throughout your day and when you get to the total you've decided to allow yourself you STOP!
The following day you can pat yourself on the back for remaining in control throughout the wedding/party and get straight back on plan eating your normal 5 - 15 syns.
Clearly this strategy won't work if you do it every week, but you have to remember that if you don't lose weight on the week of the flexi-day, you've only delayed your weight loss by one day whereas an unplanned binge is often followed by several days of unplanned bingeing and a feeling of complete hopelessness (you know the "I'm rubbish at this, can't do it, it doesn't work for me etc etc).
A long-winded explanation (sorry) but trust me, it works as an occasional thing.......well worth the working out/adding up involved for the feelings of satisfaction you get when you realise that you're in charge, not the food!
thanks for this info , i don't drink so not a problem it is more for if i go out somewhere where i can't weigh and measure (pizza hut buffet tomorrow) i can ignore the pizzas but the pasta is heavenly .
can i just go off plan for the lunch then ju,p straight back on rather than stick to a salad and probably go home fed up and eat my body weight in chocolate ?:rotfl:0 -
I live near a lidl but I have been buying their 1.5% low fat yoghurt as it's the best one I could find - perhaps i've missed something? Pls could you tell me the name of the 0.1% one you buy, or descibe the packet???? cheers
Had a flexiday today - went for an extremely posh meal in London - was amaaaazing!! It was supposed to be 3 courses but we got free canapes and amouse bouche, as well as choc truffles with coffee, so ate loads!! worth it tho, one of the best meals i've ever eaten!
Back on track tomorrow though!!
Dizzy - so glad to hear your new 'ear' is working well!!0 -
hugs to cheeseaddict , hope things improve all round hun .
do you remember me saying i was changing groups cos my C was so unhelpful and she had a funny attitude to me (said i was slim anyway so weight wasn't going to drop off me ) ?
well i have changed groups we have a brand new C .
she is lovely , took the whole group back to basics and went through the whole book with us as a group today which was great.
anyway , she told me it is entirely up to me if i have 5-15 syns - NOT just stick to 10 like the old one said.
if i had been told this in the beginning i don't think i would have got myself quite so stressed over it all.
i am now 3lb away from target (raised it as i am about where i want to be anyway) , so am thinking i might just keep at it then when i hit target i can carry on going for free .
excuse all my ramblings all my friends who are doing SW are bored of talking about it now so it's just you lot left :rotfl:0 -

So i think today will be something like

Hi all:j
Many thnaks for all the help the other day with my curry questions - didn't make the naan in the end Mrs M as I found a few rotis that DH ate instead, so I wasn't tempted.

Food today:
B: rice, ML banana & fresh pineapple

The brand name of the yoghurt is Lanessa I think its their sort of own brand, but the 1.5% is usually right beside it and its in a slightly different colour blue type carton. Originally I had to lift them up to check as the have a little red tick on the pot denoting the fat content. Hope this helps.
thanks whitehall - this is really helpful and i will seek it out at the weekendBetty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
Morning everyone.
It's getting very cold here in Poland now, I've been told we're on for worse winter than last year - which hovered between -15 and -20 so :eek::eek: for this year. Plus I don't have as much fat this year to keep me warm :rotfl::rotfl: I have also come down with the lurgy so have a sore throat and feel groggy:(
I cooked the Navarin of Lamb yesterday for dinner today and it tastes amazing. It is in the French section of the World of Flavours book.
Today... EE
B - 2 ryvita (.5cheese (A)
L - either spanish omelette or SW carbonara with extra mushrooms to up the freefoods (F) salad (F)
D - Navarin of Lamb (F) wokked savoy cabbage (F) rosemary roast potatoes (2)
Snx - Rice pudding (3 - for the milk) grated apple (F) 2 ryvita (.5quark (F) tomato (F)
Maybe I should syn the apple but just this once I'm not going to as it is a one off and I am not using it to eat loads just to add more fibre to the rice pud.
Just one lesson to do today as the little girl I teach has a low immune system so with me being ill I can't go near her. So I plan lots of lolling about on the sofa watching my TV programmes.
I'm hopeful for another 2lb loss this week... just need to make sure I don't reach for comfort food. Actually I will put more rice pudding in the oven today ready for the next 2 days and probably have green days with comforting pasta and tatas.
Have a great day everyone xxxx"People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know where I can buy extra lean minced pork or lamb? Tesco has reduced fat pork mince but I don't think its free, and never in my supermarket travels have I seen reduced fat lamb mince.
Thanks in advance!0
