Had a reply off the bookclub about my missing Jamie Oliver book seems it has been popular and sold out but they have offered me another SW book or a veggie options book. Very nice of them.
Will have a look later - will take them up on the kind offer of an alternative as I can raffle it or sell it on the stall I help with for the Pound dog rescue:)
Been so cold at work today and craving hot food - luckily had taken plenty of free foods. Might make a soup tonight as have a squash to use and might make a potato and baked bean bake for tomorrows tea.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

can anyone clarify "flexiday" for me
i have been using it for when i can't count or weigh something ie someone makes a cake and you have a bit but obviously don't weigh it out or if you go out to eat , say a pasta and salad buffet , again you can't weigh or measure anything .
i have done this on the very odd occasion and always tried to stick to plan for the rest of the day etc
but i read somewhere that flexi day means you set an upper syn limit and stick to it . how can i do that if i don't know the syn values ????? confused , sorry
There are rules to a proper flexible syn day (flexi-day).
Maybe you're going to a wedding - you need to try and get a copy of the menu so that you can choose your meal. Use the Food Directory or syns online to make an estimate of the syns involved in the meal.
Then take into account all the drinks you will have (don't be shy, tell it like it is lol). A glass of champagne for the toast, a couple of glasses of wine with the meal etc etc. Work out the syns and add them to your running total.
If you're going to the evening 'do' tot up the syns....yada, yada!!
At the end of your calculations you could easily have 60, 70 or even 100 syns - this is your total for the day.
The hard part comes once you've been drinking and are starting to show signs of 'wear' - the adding up can go a bit pear-shaped but try to persevere
The idea is that you keep counting throughout your day and when you get to the total you've decided to allow yourself you STOP!
The following day you can pat yourself on the back for remaining in control throughout the wedding/party and get straight back on plan eating your normal 5 - 15 syns.
Clearly this strategy won't work if you do it every week, but you have to remember that if you don't lose weight on the week of the flexi-day, you've only delayed your weight loss by one day whereas an unplanned binge is often followed by several days of unplanned bingeing and a feeling of complete hopelessness (you know the "I'm rubbish at this, can't do it, it doesn't work for me etc etc).
A long-winded explanation (sorry) but trust me, it works as an occasional thing.......well worth the working out/adding up involved for the feelings of satisfaction you get when you realise that you're in charge, not the food!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hello all,
Hope your all good?
I've not been on here for a good few weeks, or on plan. I've had 3 lots of bad news in the past 3 weeks and what I'm eating has been the last thing on my mind. My best friend has a cancerous brain tumour (he's only 32), boyfriend's sister in intensive care and my grandad has advanced prostate cancer. They say it comes in threes though so fingers crossed that is all!!
Anyway, today I thought that if I'm going to be of any use to any of these people I should start taking a bit more care of myself.. . .Not carry on eating getting more and more depressed and being totally unfit!
I will weigh myself in the morning and report back with the damage. Off to write out a meal plan for the whole week so I don't need to think about it through the week.
Think a lot of weetabix will be on the menu as my mum has just got me a box of 72 for £2 odd :rotfl:0 -

Lisa26,, try a meatloaf? I don't have a recipe I'm afraid but would be interested if you find a SW friendly one
Meat Loaf with eggs - lovely Hot and Cold sliced with salad

Pinch all spice

1 level tsp. chopped parsley

Pre-heat oven to 190C, 375F, Gas 5. Mix all the ingredients, except the hard-boiled eggs, together. Shape into a flat rectangle and place hard-boiled eggs down the centre. Roll the meat mixture around the eggs, using your fingers. Place in a small loaf tin. Cover with foil and cook for 45-55 minutes. Remove the foil and cook for a further 10 minutes to brown the top. Serve hot with free green vegetables or cold with a salad.

I just shaped the mince into burger shapes (have no idea how to do them properly?!? binding with eggs or something?) and wrapped a slice of bacon on them and cooked for 25 mins in the oven, I had them with salad and potato wedges, you could have some big tomato slices to go on top of the burgers too
Great minds think alike!!! I did bacon and cheese burgers in wholemeal pitta bread. I didn't wrap the bacon around the burgers but I wish I had as it would have saved on the washing up.......although OH did that bit anyway!!! We had them with salad and SW chips and it was deeeeeeelish!!!0
