I'd love to know what it is - I am planning a SW friendly curry tonight & DH REFUSES to forgo his naan - he says DD & I can go without, but HE isn't LOL. I do cook it on the hob, so no fat used in cooking, same with poppadums, just pop them on the hotplate & they puff up lovely, no oil reqd!! DD now goes to SW group, but forgot to get password despite being reminded, she won't ask consultant & says her friends don't know, otherwise I'd do this myself.:D

    Hey everyone,

Just been catching up. Had a busy few days so not had chance to get on here.
Hello to all the newcomers. Well done to all you loosers:D

I'd been doing really well till yesterday. I'd planned an EE day but evening came and just out of habit i reached for my alpen light. Wasnt till after i ate it i realised i'd already had my full 15syns and both HE's. But it could have been worse only 3.5syns too many and i've only had between 5-10 every other day.

I've planned a green day today

B - porridge (only ate half, ds nabbed it off me) so had an alpen light with my cuppa) 1heb and half hea
    L - MrsMs cheese n potato pie nomnomnom:D
T - pasta bake (so far, this may change yet so not planning any snacks) 1hea for cheese and 5syns for sauce

    here you go sashanut...
I selected pasta as the "free element" -hope that is right... I guess pasta was the main ingredient??

    Per 100g

3 Syns per package/portion on Extra Easy
3 Syns per package/portion on Green
7½ Syns per package/portion on Original

I thought I had done the naan conversion -although I could be imagining things :rotfl:-I will work it out and pop back in a moment

  • Afternoon everyone.

Just popping in to say Hi and see what you are all up to. I have batch cooking to do at some point this weekend, may get OH to help me.

    Today... EE
B - BLT (B+F+1) - my 1 portion of bread for the week
L - H/made soup - maybe a mixed veggie one as there are some sorry looking veggies in the bottom of the fridge :)
    D - Buffalo Chicken (2.5) Rice/SW Chips (F) Salad (F)
    Snx - Fruit & yoghurt (2)

I have bought a tin of chickpeas too to try to make the SW hummous, but I'll add some sesame oil in mine to give a more authentic flavour.

The most enormous savoy cabbage has been delivered this morning ... it is bigger than my head!!! So I would be grateful for any suggestions as to what to do with it.. apart from stirfrys.

    xx

    here you go Sashanut.....
I have copied the recipe over too "just in case"
now they work out at 4 x 10.5 syns... they were about the size of my hand -but they aren't "airy fairy" I never liked ready made ones -these I loved.. I guess you could swap the sugar for sweetener (if you use it) and Im wondering how much difference it would make to omit the oil (I guess they won't be as silky smooth -doesn't sound like they will need to *keep* with OH in the house ;)so that won't matter)... I think if I was having them I would be willing to pay for the "full syn" recipe ...but I would rather have a little of something nomnomnom than a lot of something OK :D

    Naan bread recipe
    1. 1tsp dried yeast -I used a grapes sized piece of fresh (0.5)
    2. 1tsp sugar (1)
    3. 1tbs warm water
    4. 200g plain flour (35)
    5. 1/4tsp salt -I used 1tsp as bread with to little salt is nasty :D
    6. 1/2tsp baking powder
    7. 1tbs oil (6)
    8. 2tbs yogurt -I have used Greek and tzatziki when it needed using up(and the tzatziki ones are yummy):p free if fat free
    9. 2tbs milk - I found i needed a little more -from allowance
    • mix the 1st 3 ingredients together -if using dried wait 10 mins for it to foam
    • throw everything else into a bowl and add the yeast mix
    • mix to a dough and need for about 5 mins-if you can be bothered :rotfl:
    • cover and leave to rest for about 30 mins.. or until you remember
    • cut into 4 and roll out to an oval shape -not to thin mind..mine were about 1/2cm
    • place on a greased baking sheet and cover -leave for -well till you feel like it
    • whack in an oven for 10-15 mins 140c/275f/gas1 until lightly golden.. don't let them get crispy
    They freeze well too :T
EDIT-Oh lordy -I have just looked up the syns online for naan breads  -glad I don't have em :rotfl:

  • well yesterday went quite well, after having my pasta bake for tea I had used 12 syns, but then got absolutely ravenous! It doesn't help that the co-op I live literally a minute away from is open till ten!

It's really hard not to be tempted by a packet of biscuits or something! so was wondering if anyone had some tips for some low syn 'treat' type things, like chocolate/ice cream/biscuits?

Anyways, I decided to ignore the lure of co-op and have two sticks of celery. Didn't do anything for me, so I then had three slices of ham. Then I was STILL hungry! So I used up my last three syns on a small slice of wholemeal toast with spaghetti hoops on. Felt slightly more satisfied, but an hour later my stomach was rumbling again! What's wrong with me?!?! haha.

Also i've just had an awful breakout of spots, has anyone else found this when starting SW? I thought my skin would get better not worse! oh well, i'm sure it won't last long! well i'm hoping anyways!

    Today so far
B - Rice crispies (is this a HeB or not btw?? if not could someone kindly post a list of HeB approved cereals please?)
with a teaspoon of sugar (1)

Not sure what i'm having the rest of the day though.
  • autumnflower - rice crispies are definately NOT a heb! They don't contain enough fibre (its a shame as i love them!)

here's a list of the ones i have

28g Fruit and Fibre (have with 1 scan bran but mag a few months back said you can have a w/g crackerbread with it instead of scan bran)
    2x Weetabix
    28g Weetabix mini's (with 1 w/g crackerbread)
28g Sultana Bran (with 1 ryvita dark rye/original/sesame)
28g Ready Brek (with 1 ryvita dark rye/orginal/sesame)
    42g Weetabix Crunchy Bran
    28g Jordan's Muesli (+ 1 w/g crackerbread)

Apart from the muesli and weetabix mini's i buy Asda's own version of the above cereals as they are cheaper.

When i find my list i shall post more :)
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

When Ive been feeling pretty rubbish the last few days Ive not fancied eating much at all.....but yesterday had a very sweet tooth. Last night (and again for lunch today :o) I cooked some pudding rice and mixed it up whilst hot with a muller choc sprinkle & a bit of sweetener.....it was absolutely lush - like ambrosia rice from a tin

Today Ive had hot rice with a WW dessert recipe strawberry cheesecake yog & a bit of sweetener with a chopped banana (that was just like rice pudding & Jam) totally syn free but it felt soooooo naughty and made my lurgy bugs feel better too :)

    Rice crispies arent HEB.:o
    you can have 2 weetabix,
    42g kelloggs all bran,
    28g bitesize shredded wheat,
    28g porrige oats & 1 ryvita crackerbread

there will be others but I never eat cereal, these are just some I can think of off the top of my head at the mo ;)
  • Autumnflower i have PM'd you :)

    Afternoon All

Can I just say a massive thankyou to everyone who sent such lovely messages about my 'new ear' :happyhear Im so lucky to have found such a wonderful group of people on here.....and you're all so kind and supportive......not just with the diet, but with everything! x x x x x x

I went to Asda today to put 'my ear' through its paces. It was hell on earth in there....sooooo busy (my worst time to be there anyway for losing my balance)
Anyway....my OH stood on my 'deaf' side as we walked and he read from the list - and I was able to hear what he said really quite clearly despite the background noise:j THEN....... dun dun duhhh he walked BEHIND ME!!:( and I stood really still (cos I cant quite do the concentrating and walking at the same time without falling yet lol....my brain hasnt quite got to the multitasking stage) but I FLIPPING WELL HEARD HIM SAY "YOU NEED SOME MORE FIBRE PLUS BARS GREEDY GUTS" :rotfl:

Am a very happy Dizzy today despite still feeling a bit stuffed up with the lurgy still.....and my head is a tad sore now from 2 hours solid of the DALEK band ;) (either Ive got a very big head.....or theyve given me a childs size metal headband) :o
