Yay Dizzy, great news about the implant - I shall have to stop talking about you now in case you can hear me :rotfl:

Butternut squash & red pepper soup:

    1 medium onion
    1 butternut squash
2 red peppers roasted in the oven
    1½ pints chicken Bovril stock
    ½ tsp cinnamon
    salt & pepper
    ¼ pint skimmed milk
Spray a pan with frylight and fry onions. Add chopped deseeded peppers, chopped deseeded squash, stock, and cinnamon.
Bring to boil, simmer till tender, and add the milk.
Blend, season to taste and serve.

Sweetcorn and coriander soup (Syn free on Green + EE)

The pasta shapes and sweetcorn make this a really substantial soup, and fresh coriander adds a burst of colour and flavour.

    Fry light for spraying
8 spring onions, trimmed and finely sliced
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
1½ pints chicken stock made from stock cubes
    2 x 14 oz can sweetcorn
½ red pepper, deseeded and very finely diced
    2oz dried mini pasta shapes
Large handful of fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Spray a large non-stick saucepan with Fry light and place over a medium heat. Add the spring onions and garlic and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
Pour in the stock, increase the heat to high and add the sweetcorn and red pepper. Bring the mixture to the boil, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Add the pasta, re-cover and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the chopped coriander, season well and remove from the heat. Ladle into warmed bowls and serve immediately.

Hope you enjoy these and I've posted a load more on the MSE recipe thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/37543414#Comment_37543414

    Hi everyone,
I've been a bit remisse... I want to lose weight but I feel that I don't want to go back to the SW classes - what should I do???
    :-)

You don't need to go to group to follow the plan, but I do think you need to be very disciplined to go it alone :)

    Morning all,

Was absolutely gutted, but I spoke to my consultant and she said it may be that I am retaining water. I walked to me meeting from work last night and was running late so built up quite a sweat to get there on time (sorry if TMI) so I'm blaming this. As it happened I weighed myself when I got in from WI last night and was the same, but when I weighed this morning I had lost 3lbs! I don't know how you can magically lose that much in 12 hours but hey ho.

You can't.....this is not a true reading because your body's water levels are in a state of constant fluctuation - you could weigh yourself every hour and have a different reading every single time. This is why you are advised to get weighed just once a week.

Hi and welcome to Slimming World and this thread!:)
  • Consultant - thank you so much for the soup receipes and the link to the receipes thread. Was feeling really disillusioned with SW last night after my unexpected gain:(; but now I have all these new receipes to try - I feel more positive as new receipes always seem to help kickstart my weight loss - thank you so much!
  • Trixietoes, I can recommend the stifado recipe from World of favours - it got even better as I went through the week as the flavours deepened.

Who said about frozen chopped garlic? I also chop and freeze fresh ginger because it doesn't last a heck of a long time otherwise; just pop a cube out of an ice tray in with the garlic and onions at the start of cooking!

DIZZY, I love you and I don't know what I have found the most moving this week - your bionic ear or the miner rescue - I am getting soft and tearful in my old age, but CONGRATULATIONS!

There was more to say but as usual after reading 3 pages I've forgotten most of it, sorry! :)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!
