Have any of you ever counted the calories that you eat on a slimming world day ? I am starting class on wednesday and i have sort of been half counting calories, half doing slimming world. It wories me that when i start slimming world my calorie intake will be much higher than the 1000 i have been having. 2 2 finger kitkats (11 sins) would be 110 calories, i am guessing at the healthy extras being about 150 calories each, so four of them = 600 calories so thats 700 calories before i have even started eating the free foods (which will be green most days as veggie). Can't see how this is goign to be low enough in calories for me to lose weight.0

That's the great thing about Slimming World you don't need to count calories. Don't know how it works but it certainly does. It's probably because all the free stuff is low calorie and low fat anyway, ie veggies, fruit, meat, fish.
You only have to count the Syns you have. If you had 2 2 finger kitkats (11 syns) you could still have another 4 syns if you felt you needed to, although most days I don't find I need more than 10 (probably because I don't eat chocolate very often!), although I do like to use my Syns at the weekend for a few glasses of red wine.
Give it a try - I'm sure you'll find it works.

I used to be a calorie counting fanatic, but found that I was usually hungry (1000 cals is not much at all, your body will prob go into starvation shut down mode anyway and hang on to any fat you have!)
I wouldn't even like to think about how amny calories are in the amount of pasta and noodles I ate in the first 2 weeks of SW, but I lost 5lb!! It's a very clever plan and i really have never felt less restricted and still lost weight.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

how i understand it hun,its not high or low calories that make us lose weight, its how the food that we eat is processed when we've eaten it. take Atkins for example,it works, its not healthy but i have lost weight when i 'did' it,and its just the way your body breaks down what you have eaten. my advice for what its worth,is, stop counting and just trust it,give it 2 weeks and if it doesnt work then thats all you've lost,2 weeks,i can tell you that it works for me and i feel LOADS better when i am on plan, more energy, better skin, better ehrm toilet habits, its all good0 -
eek wi tonight and i am not sure i have lost
though the veg soup is certainly helping things i think lol
will have to see how i have paid for the slice of pizza and eating at tgi fridays!!
edit - was just on the grabbit board and saw the tesco were doing jars of homepride sauces on buy 1 get 2 free! bargain i thought - then i went and looked up the syn value - think i will be leaving that one lol0 -

I used to love them - not any more!!! (OH is disappointed tho, but i will try to do a HM one to satisfy him!!)
Just a thought - I use light olive oil mixed with water in an old frylight bottle - should i be synning it???
sorry I have another question - the syns for the burritos in the book show 4 for 4 people, and indicates 5.5 syns each serving
but my (old) book says 3.5 syns per 28g tortilla
an average tortilla is 67g or thereabouts, which makes the total syns per tortilla approx 8.5
UPDATE - the recipe calls for 25g tortillas!! These are tiny , most of the ones you get in Tesco etc are twice that size.
I can't really see how you can make burritos with tiny tortillas.
Well I will just syn my dinner 8.5 then!! lol

Hi everyone, green day for me today and looking VERY carb heavy! Think I'll make some salad to go with tea before I start to look like a carb!!!!
Brekkie - Porridge (HEA&B)
Snack, 2 plums, pear, small choc brownie (syns??? maybe 7?)
Lunch -tinned spaghetti, 2 slices of bread (need to check syns but will no doubt take me over!)
Snack - peach
Tea - spaghetti and meatballs (HEB) and tomato sauce - this will be made by OH which will be a very nice treat!0 -
If you can, try to have at least one of each healthy extras just to ensure your getting enough calcium and fibre, I like to try and save my HEB till evening and have a hifi bar which Im finding curbs my sweet tooth but things like having a small wholemeal roll with some soup for lunch or having weetabix for breakfast will use it up nicely, hope this helps
Thanks for this tip, I always fancy something sweet in the evening and getting a bit bored with yogurts.
I never thought about having my HEB in the form of a cereal bar at night.Great stuff!0 -

No, she was probably the highest profile person to say it, but that saying has been around for ages.
Well after hitting my mini target, let uni get to me a bit and got very stressed and ended up eating a fair few things i shouldn't! Anyhoo, not going to let it get me down, back on the straight and narrow. One day was an off plan day that i had planned, the other wasnt. My next off plan day is the 31st October as it is hubbys birthday. I shall be 100% until then:D
Got my SW book today, and the free Jamie Oliver one. Many thanks again to whoever posted that deal:T Sorry can't remember who it was. There are some yummy looking recipes in the SW book, stifado looks gorgeous!
Need to plan my meals for next week soon and try and incorporate some of them. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Ran out of All Bran this morning, which was a bit of a disaster! Had 2 alpen lights, a FF activia and a nana instead.
Just having lunch now as i had loads on at uni then had to nip to asda. Had a big mug of lentil soup - still not sick of it:p And also having a Quorn chicken burger.
Used 1A+2B, and 3.5 syns so far, dinner will be pasta and a cheese sauce, have low fat cheddar so will use 42g as my 2nd A and maybe syn a little more depends how i feel. 1/4 tsp of dijon mustard going in it too. How many syns are in mustard? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
