Welcome newbies. Well done losers.
Have just made this cake for our Christmas taster tonight, (thought it was appropriate). I pinched it from the MiniMins site! For a cake that's only 8.1/2 syns for the whole thing it's not bad.
Christmas bran cake
Syns: 8½ Syns for the whole cake!
You will need:
5 Scan Bran (soaked in Boiling water) (was 1/2 syn each - now 1 syn each - therefore 5 syns)
2 beaten eggs
1 tbsp golden syrup (2 syns)
2 level tbsp mincemeat (2 syns per tbsp - therefore 4 syns)
5 level tbsp sweetener (or to taste)
1½ tsp mixed spice
Grated zest of a lemon for extra zing (optional)
Soak the scan bran, then drain.
Mix all the ingredients together and microwave on high for 7 minutes.
Syns: 8½ Syns for the whole cake!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is 11 syns for whole cake - the scan bran syn value has changed and this is an old recipe! Sorry0 -

Whoops - just saw this!
But i don't think it is 8.5 plus a heb - i would say it is 6 plus a heb!0 -

I knew that this weekend was coming and knew it was going to be an absolute disaster. I had guests for the whole weekend, which meant showing them the limtied sites, shopping (I did get some lovely clothes and gorgeous boots), lunching and munchies whilst watching xfactor and strictly.
I may have walked lots, including up a mountain but I've no idea if it's enough to combat the damage of Saturday. My WI is tonight too. It's at times like this that I think Monday isn't the best day for a WI.
I did tell my guests that I had started SW and I was very brave and told them my weight to which I got laughs and told the scales were broken (if only) and there was no way I am the weight I am (oh belive me I am, not quite sure where, must be my rear as I can't see it)
I shall update either tonight or tomorrow but I am not expecting good news.
Skintslimmer, there is a receipe on SW online to make your own humous, syn free :-)0 -
Hi I've just rejoined s.w last week after a couple of years away (having kids !!) and i was just wondering if they still publish the big food directories with all the branded foods in.
I've just tried syns online but couldn't find what i was looking for.?

I don't know what type of houmous you use but have listed some from the major supermarkets. I don't think you can use it as a B choice, I can't find any on the online food diary bit (which gives you every b choice).
You can make your own - there is definately syn free reciepes about. I;ve never tried it but you could always add roasted veg to it if its not brilliant on its own.
Just wanted to share with you all my new favourite chocolate fix...........
Ok, you need to get cocoa powder, not drinking chocolate or hot chocolate, proper cocoa. Its only 1 syn per teaspoon. Add 1 or 2 teaspoons to natural fromage frais and add sweetener (cocoa powder itself it not sweet so I usually add a tablespoon or two). Either eat as is or put in the freezer for a while. Serve with a banana and it is really tastey and only 1 or 2 syns !0 -
Skintslimmer there is a syn free houmus recipe a few pages back, sounds lovely Im going to try it out myself, I think if you use the search this thread option at the top and search houmus it should come up
Pinkparrot, yes there is a food directory, I bought one last week and it has all the branded foods in there, really handy book0
