Sorry I'm new to this (went to first meeting this week), but if you do EE, then surely salmon shouldn't count as part heb as it's free?

    Thanks

sounds right to me - nickynoo you're doing yourself out of carbs!

Well that meal planning worked well - lost 2lb. :j I pretty much kept to it but went well over syns the weekend - was drinking Friday and Saturday, also had huge roast dinner with caulifower cheese, and lots of apple crumble and cream on Sunday. Kids birthday party on Monday - had a great bit peice of chocolate cup and a large latte. Going to try and reduce my social activity this wekk and keep the alcohol down.

Will do another meal plan for next week and stick to that as well.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Br: A too large bowl of noodles and sweetcorn (today is going to be a bit carb heavy as I'm not going to the shops).
L: Pasta and HM tom sauce (1)(found another one at the back of the freezer but must make some more) dsp Parmesan(1).
T: Chicken curry (2) and rice.
    Hea - 350ml sk milk.
Heb - toast and marg (2).
Snacks - 250ml nat. yogurt and dsp jam (3) fruit.

Must go and read up on superfrees as I'm not really clear on this - I'm sure I don't have enough.

It is very important that you eat more superfree foods while on EE or you will find that weight loss will come to a standstill.

Contrary to popular belief - and this has been a bit of a contentious issue among Consultants as well as members - IMO having the 'third' superfree works better if you have it at each meal as it teaches you how to eat 'normally' for want of a better word.

If you only have a third of your intake over the day as someone else suggested a few posts back, you are much more liable to overfill your plate with the calorific foods and anyway, who wants to eat a boatload of veggies on there own (and this is from someone who loves veggies).

Stick to the plan the way it's set out and you will definitely lose weight. As a newbie, you should have seen the poster which guarantees your weight loss or get all your money back - you can't have a better offer than that.

Hope this helps, but there are loads of EE menus on the website if you need some inspiration and in the magazines too. The Original and Green plans are still there if you want to use them, but EE is nearer to a 'normal' eating plan.

dizzyk thats a fab idea for getting more fluids, im terrible for having a drink and usually just have 2 cups of tea and a small glass of squash at lunchtime which is not enough, i have never had lots to drink but it could help things along so might have to pinch your idea :)

It's really important to get enough fluid, at least 2½ litres a day, and it really does help with weight loss. Often your body thinks it's hungry when, in fact, it's dehydrated. Have a read of this which I used to have laminated in group for people who thought water wasn't important :_

Water keeps us cool, lubricates our joints and flushes toxins from our bodies, but admit it, how many of us really drink the recommended 2½ litres a day? For those of us who do struggle to drink enough, the great news is that water actually can help you in the battle against the bulge.
    Now for the science bit
Your metabolism is the bio-mechanical process that breaks food down and turns it into energy. In a nutshell, it consumes calories. Since metabolism is your best ally in the frontline against weight, you want it to be working at full speed. Water is the fuel that drives metabolism's chemical reactions. So, if you're not drinking enough, you won't burn as many calories as you can. Simple.

    Running on empty?
If you're not drinking enough water - at least 2½ litres a day - here's how your body is being affected:
    • Your weight loss will slow right down. This is because about 2½ litres of water is naturally lost through daily bodily functions such as going to the loo and sweating. If you don't replenish this water you'll soon become dehydrated, and your metabolism will be among the first to shut down. So, if you're dieting and you can't seem to shift the weight, perhaps it's because you aren't drinking enough water.
    • Your digestion will suffer. Water is essential for digestion and elimination. Poor digestion means you won't be absorbing the goodness from your food. Your body in turn will send up signals (read: cravings) for food that has minerals your body lacks.
    • You'll feel 'fake' hunger. When dehydrated, your body sends out the same signals that prompt you to eat and you may end up answering that response with food. Water will not only curb those hunger pangs, but it will fill you up. We recommend drinking a tall glass of water half an hour before a meal to fill the void and prevent overeating.
    • You won't get the full benefit of exercise. Your metabolism increases with exercise, and as we mentioned earlier, water is essential to maximise your metabolism. Drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
    Mine's a pint (or five)?
How much H2O should you drink? The British Dietetic Association suggests adults drink 2½ litres (that's a little over five pints) of fluids a day, which can include fruit juices, squash and weak tea and coffee. This amount is recommended for maintaining your daily fluid requirements. If your aim is to lose weight, add another 750ml to that and you'll aid your metabolism and help create new muscle weight.
    • You know you're drinking enough water if your urine is clear and odourless (not including your first urination of the morning).
    • But sorry, ladies, even though it's technically fluid, alcohol can't be included in your daily intake. That's because booze is dehydrating - so if you are going to have a tipple or two, drink one glass of water for every glass of alcohol.

Drinking loads of water will not make you retain water, but dehydration will. If your body feels worried that it's not getting enough water, it will hold on to what it has.

Forgot the question about Scan Bran v Ryvita and can't find the post just now, but Scan Bran has the most fibre of all these type of cracker and if they are quoted at the end of a HEB meal, it's because the item in the meal (porridge I think) hasn't enough fibre to be counted as a HEB.

At a pinch you could probably use a Ryvita but I wouldn't do it every day or your fibre count will suffer.

You can buy Scan Bran in Holland & Barret if you don't attend a group - don't expect them to be nice, but spread with enough Laughing Cow Light they're bearable. Do try to drink extra water when having SB and you should get a nice surprise on weigh-day!

    Hi

Am all excited today as the chef at our other site was telling me how she lost 6 stone on SW a couple of years back and has kept it all off since:) she has lent me some old magazines so looking forward to reading those tonight.

I also found for once that the high vis jacket we have to wear on the construction area we visited did up! Never use to:)

Glad I thought ahead and took a pile of fruit/yoghurt with me as we were out over lunch in a food court area at the shopping mall and I didnt see any healthy options - not a jacket spud in sight!

    B - Porridge and berries

Mid morning - round of beans and toms on 1 wholemeal toast

Whilst out with students - soya yoghurt(2syns) and lots of fruit

D - Jacket spud with ratatouille with chick peas in, green salad and toms.

Snacks - waiting for rice pud to cook - made with water and rest of daily milk allowance.

Might have a choc truffle if I really fancy it later.

Been very thirsty today - been drinnking so much water - maybe Id been dehydrated as I was really tired yesterday but lots more energy today, i normally drink loads of water and not much else drinks wise.

3rd weigh in tomorrow - after 3 meals out I hope Ive lost! My Mums betting on 2lb loss but Im never sure until WI!

    Hope everyone else is ok?

Im realllllllly trying to up my fluid intake from today......Im seriously flagging with this, and its not helping with the meds im on to drink so little (I only managed 2 cups of tea and 1 pint of NAS squash yesterday....which is rubbish ) so hopefully it will help the weightloss too :)
Ive ditched my pint glass as I think its been overfacing me:( Ive got a half pint one now and On the hour Im trying to drink one at the sink.....then refill and drink the rest during the remaining time (so far this is going ok and im on pint 4 already ;))

good idea dizzy.I'm good at drinking water when I'm home - no added sugar squash with water normally! - but I'm terrible for remembering whilst at work. Probably cos I'm never based in one place, and I never know where the next loo will be :rotfl:. Also I get so busy I just forget. I've dug out an old water bottle (proper metal one not plastic) and will aim to use that now.
