Have just made the carrot and coriander soup out of the curry feast book and it is awesome....

Curried carrot and coriander soup transp.giftransp.gif INGREDIENTStransp.gif
Fry Light
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp mild chilli powder
¼ tsp crushed cardamom seeds
2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
600g/1lb 6oz carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
salt and freshly ground black pepper
8 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

To serve
4 tbsp very low fat natural yogurt
INSTRUCTIONStransp.gif
INSTRUCTIONStransp.gif
1. Spray a large non-stick saucepan with Fry Light and place over a medium heat. Add the onion and fry for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add the ground spices and garlic and continue to stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
2. Add the carrots and 800ml/28fl oz of water. Bring to the boil, cover and then simmer gently for 25-30 minutes or until the carrots are tender. Season well, allow to cool slightly then place in a food processor and blend until smooth.
3. Return the soup to the saucepan and reheat gently. Ladle into four warmed bowls, stir in the chopped coriander and top each serving with a tablespoon of yogurt.

Syn free on all plans.

I can safely say im never weighing on the wii again! Lost 2lbs at weigh in which got me my half a stone award and was slimmer of the week :) very amazed after how I was feeling earlier!

Consultant31 thankyou so much for the water info, it all makes sense and I shall be working on drinking more now
• Hi all fellow SW fans:D

Just been reading lots of posts and feeling very motivated by you all.:j

I have returned to SW after a few years away, and to my delight have discovered the easiest eating plans in the world just got even easier !!! How amazing is that?! I mean the EE of course:) Last night was my 1st weigh in and I lost 3 lbs which is fantastic...plus it was taster night...great timing as my tummy was rumbling loudly as I left eating my dinner until after the weigh-in lol.

I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose this time - I lost 4 stone in previous years - but I want to lose a little weight gain before it becomes a BIG weight gain.

Tomorrow I'm going to make the yummy Roulade/swiss roll creation...can't wait !

I look forward to reading more of your fab recipes and tips for success....bye for now xxx
:kisses2:August 1st 2010...so happy I wanna jump up and down on my bed :j

It is very important that you eat more superfree foods while on EE or you will find that weight loss will come to a standstill.

Contrary to popular belief - and this has been a bit of a contentious issue among Consultants as well as members - IMO having the 'third' superfree works better if you have it at each meal as it teaches you how to eat 'normally' for want of a better word.

If you only have a third of your intake over the day as someone else suggested a few posts back, you are much more liable to overfill your plate with the calorific foods and anyway, who wants to eat a boatload of veggies on there own (and this is from someone who loves veggies).

Thanks for that consultant31. I'm actually parroting my consultant but I do see what you mean. The more chance of eating normally the more chance of sticking to it. And I will keep drinking the water!
• Hello all! I'm back on the slimming world waggon - the heaviest I have ever been, which is a disgusting weight!  :(:(:( However, a lot has changed in my life in the last few months, and I feel ready to tackle it - for blooming GOOD this time! :)

My dilemma is this: I have quite a list of extra clauses I now have in order to eat what I consider to be healthy these days. These include:

1) No conscious adding of processed, toxic rubbish - sweetener, frylight and low fat spread being the main victims here. I won't stop the occasional eating of any of the foods on this list, but will try my best to avoid where reasonably possible. does mean my syns will have to go towards healthy oil (if not a B choice) and the likes of butter and honey.

2) no wheat on a regular basis.

3) no milk and cheese on a daily basis - i will use rice milk where possible, and watch my calcium intake through calcium rich foods and suppliments if necessary. I do still have cheese once a week ish, and an odd cappucino, which means occasionally I will have some dairy.

To complicate the above I tolerate soya and oats even less well than milk and wheat :o

4) when the book and natural herbs arrive, I want to do a colon cleanse - but I have signed up to SW tonight so will have to be done as a week's interruption to SW (but hopefully to my diet's benefit)

5) Organic veg where possible, raw frequently, and not microwaved where poss.

6) less meat, and NO quorn.

So... um... ah... its all a bit complicated at the moment, as I was so hooked on pasta last time I did SW :o I don't really know what to eat for my lunches at the moment. I've packed some carrot sticks and a mini pot of hummus for tomorrow, plenty of fruit, and will probably have either a salad bar, jacket potato, or sushi as carrot sticks alone won't fill me up.

If anyone has any interesting lunchbox recipes involving basically green free foods minus the carbs, please let me know. So far I'm up to:

Rice salad with various variations on a theme of tinned mixed beans, chick peas etc with pesto or mint sauce as the dressing

salads

... mixed beans/pulses etc in some sort of a sauce

... and then I run out of ideas that don't involve using a microwave, bread or pasta. Anyone fancy taking on the challenge of helping me with ideas? Pwetty pwease?! :rotfl:

Also, any ideas on how I go about finding out the syns of home-juiced carrot juice?! Fruit juices, no problem, but veg juices...??? Its just that carrots are quite naturally sweet, so I wouldn't be suprised if the sugar content of the juice would mean they had to be synned.

*please lord don't make it as high as an avocado. I nearly passed out in class tonight when the avocado discussion brought to light the fact that they are 14 stufing syns EACH!*

How about Miso soup? I had that all last week with a pack of ramen noodles (optional) and filled it with pak choi and spinach raw as the soup naturally wilters it anyway.
• Thanks for the receipe Fitorbust! I will be making this tonight, I've been looking for some more soup receipes, normally I stick to Lentil or roast pepper soup :-)

Loving all the recipes - I am trying to copy and paste into a word document as I see them and then I don't have to search back through pages to find them again!

L xx:)

I do this too, it's much easier for me to find all the great ideas you all post.
