Those reports were about people drinking large amounts in a short space of time though ..... I drank mine from 6am til 10pm -16hrs ;) Im supposed to drink double the recommended to flush my kidneys from the side effects of my seizure meds anyway

I didn't mean to aim my post at anyone in particular:p, just there has been a lot of posts lately about increasing fluid intake and then when you posted your 9 pt success I didn't want anyone to go getting all competitve and becoming ill:cool:

I personally am abysmal at drinking water/juice, as I have such a weak bladder (naughty me not doing pelvic floors when pregnant) and get sick of running the loo when I have so much else to be getting on with:o

Hi everyone. I didn't get to WI last night but I'm going to go to another class tonight. Won't be staying to the class though as there's someone who goes who has VERY smelly feet and when they take their shoes of to get weighed the whole room stinks! I'm on EE today:

Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B) and banana
Snack - Milkyway magic stars (? syns)
Lunch - salad, cottage cheese, fat free dressing, salad cream (1), tinned mackeral in tom sauce, activia yogurt (yukky compared to my loevly HM yogurt!!!)
Tea - low fat sausages (need to check syns but can't remember which ones they are!), bacon, beans, egg, sw chips, lots of mushrooms and tomatoes.

Does anyone know they syns for the milky way magic stars?

Hey but think of the extra exercise you're getting LOL :rotfl:

Im rubbish rubbish with my fluids.....and I get all bunged up anyway as you all know (Hence the renaming of the DynoRod soup) so finding the tip of drinking a glass at the sink and the other over an hour was just too good not to share ;) I cant see any of on here being daft enough to compete in the water drinking stakes :D.....but how lovely of you to be thoughtful enough to care :A

    :rotfl:Yessss, exercise, erm...what's that!!

I love the water tip...I am trying to drink a bot more water instead of juice all the time, although I HATE, HATE, HATE water:o So I might try drinking a small glass of water at the sink and then making a juice to drink:D

We got a new fridge freezer in the summer, one of those american ones with the ice and water dispenser on....it is fabarooney and really handy for makinf juice to keep nearby as it keeps it cold/cool for aaaages:T

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    hellohello,
this thread is a real pick-me-up, thank-you to you all!

I joined SW 3 weeks ago and must say I am utterly demoralised. I don't really get all the calculations or the combination things, WW seemed a lot more straightforward! Also, it bugs me that they keep trying to force me to buy raffle tickets and other paraphernalia at the class, bad enough having to pay a fiver to be weighed in public! ;) The lady who runs it is absolutely lovely and very helpful but some of the helpers are really scary, I must say I don't like staying for the class because it's so big and there are these 3 (scary) women who talk the WHOLE time the instructor is explaining stuff - how rude is that! I just don't know what to do. Probably best if I speak to the instructor privately but it's just not what I need when I'm finding it hard enough to work out what the book says... Sorry about the moan but it all seems pointless at the moment.... Good thing is that I have very little appetite at the moment, so I'm not snacking!

Anyway, here's a healthy MS recipe for 2 people:
    Healthy Cranachan
2 tb fromage frais (500g tub from Tesco for 85p) - 0.2g fat, sugar 33g (Asda is 78p but nowhere near me)
Toast 50g oatflakes (1kg bag 69p from Tesco)
100g raspberries (fresh rasps 225g - buy 2 packs for £4 from Tesco and put on 28g mini shredded wheat for breakfast!)
    a teaspoon of honey
Put rasps in bottom of glass, top with fromage frais, toasted oatflakes and drizzle 1/2 tsp per glass.
    Hope you enjoy!
    :)

    :)

Afraid I can't help with the annoying chatters, other than you just saying "I'm sorry Consultant, could you say that again, I can't hear you properly" and giving them a pointed look!

With the plans I think I thought at first it was really complicated but extra easy really isn't! You can have as much rice, pasta, potatoes, couscous etc as you want, as much lean meat and quorn and fish and eggs as you want, as many pulses and baked beans as you want, as much quark soft cheese, as much zero fat yogurt as you want...

The only rule is to be sure to fill 1/3 of your plate with superfree fruit and veg; these are things with a lot of water and fibre etc, fairly logical which ones it is, salad, cucumber, peppers...

Then for extra easy you have one portion of a calcium containing food or drink and one portion of a fibre containing food e.g. milk and some scan bran or a small portion of cheese and some cereal (not together!). And you are allowed between 5-15 syns which are your treat foods. These are the only things you need to weigh or measure, healthy A and B and your syns.

I recommend it to start with rather then red or green if you find it complicated!

  • I've now been going to SW classes for 6 weeks. So far I have lost 5lbs. To be honest I expected to lose that in the first week. I think I only lost the last 3lbs because I was on holiday for 2 weeks and walked almost 40 miles during that time. Normally I am sitting at a desk all day.

I'm a bit disappointed as I have about 5 stones to lose and at this rate I will be drawing my pension before I get to target. I've had my food diaries checked and I have been doing it all correctly.

Someone at my class suggested I try red/green instead of the EE that I have been on. She said the wieght dropped off her when she did red in particular. I know that everyone is different, but what do you think?

I've had a quick look at red and it looks much the same as EE but less carbs. Is this the secret? It is difficult to believe that you can stuff your face with spuds, rice and pasta and still lose weight!

On the other hand, is a load of meat healthy?

    Where is the confused smilie?

I don't do red days at all as I'm on a strict budget so eat a lot more potatos and pasta. Although I haven't stuck to it rigidly (lack of organisation and discipline) I've still lost 8.5 pounds in a month.

As has been said many times, even if you only lose a pound a week it's still 4stone a year. If you lose a pound a week until Christmas it's still a stone (or was a couple of weeks ago!). Look at the bigger scale rather than the week to week loss.

I feel like death if I don't get enough fluid, I just stick the bottle beside me and drink from it *not very ladylike I know*.... I get extra exercise from the constant up n down the stairs to the loo and up n down the basement steps fetching another bottle from the fridge down there ;)

    3. feta, dill and potato cakes
    4. bejing style lamb
    5. spicy turkey kebabs
    6. pork n swede 1 pot
    7. braised beef and roast garlic pie
    8. leek barley and chickpea soup
    9. goan pork curry
    10. thai beef stir-fry...
