SW has worked with Doctor's surgeries all over the country for several years now and a lot of them will issue vouchers if you're unhealthily over-weight. However, it's a bit of a postcode lottery and many surgeries won't do it at all. It's well worth asking your own GP just in case.

My old work colleague has moved so I no longer have anyone to remind me to Drink More Water, I have to keep reminding myself and it's not as much fun as drinking it with someone else, if you see what I mean.

I like to use an elegant glass and sparkling water. It looks lovely and I really do enjoy it......even more so if you add a slice of lime or lemon to the glass.

that's a good idea, consultant, except at home I have cats who like to drink from glasses ... :( ... and at work I am forever knocking over my coffee cup, so I drink from a little squat heavy glass, not classy at all. Fortunately, the water fountain is only a few steps from my door and I do what Dizzy does, I drink a glass whilst I am there and then fill it and bring it back. I take a bottle of water to bed otherwise I am woken to slurping sounds as one of the cats quenches his thirst :rotfl:

    gosh thats scarey stuff

Drinking several litres over a relatively short period of time could be enough to cause water intoxication. Those most at risk include people taking ecstasy, as the drug increases thirst and facilitates the release of anti-diuretic hormones so more water is taken in but cannot be excreted. Also, elderly people because their kidney function may be impaired.

It does sound scary until you read it in more detail. The (very few) people who have been affected like this were living dangerously anyway - one taking drugs and the other on Lighterlife, which IMO is a really stupid way to try and lose weight (sorry, don't want to offend anyone) and what sort of idiot takes part in a water-drinking contest anyway???

If you drink your water throughout a normal day (15 hours or so) it's very unlikely you'll come to any harm.......far more likely in fact, that you're weight will reduce more easily and your skin and hair will look gorgeous.

  • yeah, it's all very well them drinking after me, I wash my nether regions in the shower. If I drink after them it's entirely another matter, I know where their tongues have been:eek::rotfl:

If I'm out though, I have sparkling water and ice, it's lovely. But then, I think if you're thirsty only water really hits the spot.

But if you could get your leg straight up over your head in order to use that tongue on those particular regions you'd be extremely nimble wouldn't you :rotfl:

Yes, water is the ultimate thirst quencher especialy with ice and lemon.

I am absolutly gutted, my online bank account has been hacked and money taken out. Just been crying my eyes out, I don't have much money but what was in there was for my sons college kit which should have gone out this week but hasn't so was really worried it would bounce. Been told by bank it should be ok but my online account has been frozen.
Off for another cry now am so guttered :(
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • Evening all

Quite funny to see some of the same recipes in the SW book and the JO book and compare them syn wise!

Very much looking forward to the weekend, and went for my run today. My SW online membership has expired, but I have all the pdfs of healthy extras/free/syns downloaded and a couple of books so I'm confident I can carry on. Had a brainwave yesterday and used my couch to 5k podcasts (basically a timer to tell you when to run and when to walk) as a workout on my exercise bike and turned up the resistance and speed on the 'run' sections. 14.5k in half an hour :) I find the exercise bike interminably boring so it really helped me having the timer. If I'm left to my own devices I'd just do 15 minutes, but I'm incapable of giving something up if I'm being timed :p Have been managing to do at least a small portion of exercise every day this week, feeling good about it.

B - porridge (heb) and 1/3 skim milk with a banana
L - omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes
D - cottage pie with added carrots and mushrooms, the rest of hea cheese on the top

crackerbread to go for the rest of my heb, with a bit of nutella on top. Don't really fancy any other syns actually!

I was going to treat myself to a gu (fru) key lime pie tonight as they were reduced, but it was disgusting! So, so sickly sweet. Maybe my tastebuds are changing! Good for me that I don't like them tho, I always moon after them in the shop lol

Well done to all the losers :)

Oh, and on the water topic - I don't drink hot drinks or fizzy, so I make up a 1.5L bottle of squash to take to work with me and drink throughout the day. Also have a large glass with lunch, one with dinner and one to take to bed with me. I go to the toilet a lot lol
