  • Me again,

Forgot to say I am still trying to get loads of scan bran down me and this morning soaked 5 of them in boiling water, covered them in cinnamon and splenda and they tasted 'acceptable'. Only telling you this cos 5 scan bran weigh 45g while we can only have 28g cereal for HEB so much more filling. You could add some milk from HEA if you wanted to. x

welcome newbies and congrats to losers :D

I almost had a wobbly today cos I was out n about and went to the jacket potato stall to find out that it wasn't there  the only nearby eating places were bakeries or McD's! Luckily I had a banana stashed in the car so I had that, and then when I got in I had some syn free soup from the freezer.

Tonight I've made a huge pot of SW veggie chilli, there are at least 4 huge portions left. Plus I made some syn free celery soup to snack on, about 3 bowls worth.

    Green day for me:

B - 2 eggs fried in frylight on HM WM toast (HEB)
L - banana, SF celery soup
D - SF veggie chilli with jacket spud, cheese (2 x HEA), sour cream (3syns)
Snacks - 200g tinned pineapple (HEB), LF creme fraiche (3syns)
Drinks - coffee, fizzy water, SF squash

    Total syns = 6

not sure what my meal plan is for today. I've had two clementines and some cereal so it'll prob end up EE again.
I do find that if I plan a day I am then drawn to going off plan. Does anyone else get that????

No idea what i'm having for lunch. Maybe omelette and beans or some pasta with tuna. Or a mugshot. All a bit boring though.

Dinner is going to be chilli con carne with veg and rice.

Feeling a bit uninspired and restricted all of a sudden.

I find the opposite. If I have a plan to follow then my week goes much smoother.

do you buy the magazine? there are always fab ideas inside and a weekly meal plan for you to follow.

Think about your favourite foods / meals and work out how you can enjoy them on SW.

vary your HEB options - make sure you don't repeat the same one in anyone week.

play SW bingo.... (my own invention). Get yourself some coloured index cards from your local stationery shop. Chop in half and using pink for red days, green for green days, yellow for extra easy, blue for mix to match etc, write your various meals on the cards, stick in a bowl/ put into the various piles according to meal type and then pick out one card for each meal. hey presto, impromptu meal planning ! Another way to do this (which I have tried also (for all but a day or two!!) is to write out my day's menu on an index card. if you did this for a whole month, then you would have a month's menus and could mix cards to suit and pick one that took your fancy or just take pot luck.

excellent! thanks. Will have one fab lolly for dessert tonight :)

Ok I have another question - how do you know whether to stick to 5, 10, or 15 syns, on average?
I have about a stone to lose so was wondering if i'd get there faster by limiting myself to 10 syns per day during the week, rather than 15?
    any thoughts???

I was told my syn allowance was 15 when I joined and most days, I used the full 15 - typically 6 for a glass of red wine, 4 syns for treat size buttons and 5 syns for flora light / other sauces etc.

I think its important to use at least some of your syns and not go without. In my new found sw plan, I shall aim to keep to 10 a day !

Flat Eric weighed in tonight and can report a loss of 1.5 pounds :j which I am really pleased with since I have only really stuck to the plan since yesterday. I know that my frame of mind about it all has changed so Im hoping that things will go well from here.

I had a lovely chilli for tea which was almost syn free with wholemeal rice but the extras I served were not syn free by any means !! but this is my treat ! and I might work like that from now on ! i.e. only allowed treat on tuesday if I have a loss.

Made an unusual lunch for tomorrow, looks very brown but tastes nice!

Its quinoa - for once I seem to have mastered how to cook it ok! have added sweet chilli sauce - hot one so just a spoonful and going to have that with poached tofu!

I baked/poached a slab of tofu in foil in the oven with slices of peppers, onions, mushrooms and fresh ginger, plus some soya sauce.

Was at the opticians today for my contact lens review, and was whinging how much I am needing reading glasses now:cool2: ( everybody who is thinking poor old dear - just wait! This time last year I didn't need them at all and laughed at my Mum holding things away from her to read them.....:rotfl:) and she has changed my prescription to one reading eye and one long distance eye - apparently they work together without me knowing.... I've just changed them and it's weird but haven't got my reading glasses stuck on top of my head now!

    Hey ho,

    L x:)

My contact lenses are like that too, one for reading and one for seeing, I didn't think it would work but it does. It doesn't work very well if you put them both into one eye though, ask me how I know. I'd be known as Dizzytoo if I did that very often!

NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........
  • DDB, stick here for hugs and support, as someone said we are all faceless so we have no preconceptions (nor do we get free drinks when we are out with you :D ) Good luck, you can do it. I was never (recently) a big drinker but SW has certainly helped me cut right back. I've had to reduce my three monthly wine delivery to six monthly, and I don't get thru it all then.

Flat Eric, well done! Me - 2 lb off this week, but 1.5 on last week so it kind of evens out. I've been trying to note it on the website but it's going really s-l-o-w-l-y tonight.

I meant to comment on other peoples' posts but I can't remember now who or what, sorry
