Hi, I have a quick question about Slimming World. I'm getting married next year and want to lose a little bit of weight. I'm not overweight, the most I would want to lose is about 10lbs. Is Slimming World likely to work for me? It seems like you get to eat loads! I usually use Rosemary Conley if I need to lose a few pounds and it does work but I've head loads about Slimming World and fancy trying it.

I used to do RC and lost quite a bit but I then put it all back on, now I am SW and its come off quicker than ever before so far. Still have a lot to lose and I havent officialy joined SW online or group yet just use this forum for incentive, inspiration and amazing support! Hardly any willpower required! ;)

    Best of luck. :)

  • Is there a site that I can find SW recipies for 1 or 2 ? All the ones in the mag come for 4 or more and when I am doing my shopping list I dont know how to convert a lot of it into 2 or 1 portion (I suppose 2 is ok as I can always freeze half).

Also the pasta n sauces and savoury rice (dried ones in packets) are they good for SW main meals? What about the new 'Lloyd Grossman' or Jamie Oliver types (microwheat and eat)??

    Thanks :)

  • I love this thread, so suportive and inspiring!

Just wondering if people find a lot of benefit in actually attending meetings as opposed to joining online???

I have ALMOST got enough nerve to go to my local meeting tomorrow.....but not quite! :o

I'm not much of a joiner-iner :rotfl: but would try to do it if it's likely to help me.

What's been your experience of SW classes?

I would reccommend going to a class - i was nervous before i started but i regained my confidence and found the friends i made extremely supportive and it has helped me! I have lost close to 4st in 11 months (with one of those months being nearly completely off plan - wedding etc.)

I want to get my 6st award by xmas - meaning i need to loose 2.38lbs a week! or 2 weeks to loose 3lbs a week and 11 weeks to loose 2lbs a week!

Do you think this is acheiveable?

Wish me luck - weigh in at 6pm! Will let you know the outcome tomorro!

Good luck to everyone else x

Fozzie, I am definitely NOT a joiner-in (ask anyone at the hundreds of groups I have joined in my 60+ years, and only attended once or twice). However, I am currently on my second SW attempt (the first was a disaster and counts in the above list of hundreds :D) and I actually enjoy staying to group. It's always a little awkward the first couple of weeks as you don't know anyone, and everyone else seems like old friends, but I just started chatting to the person next to me one week ... and then we both chatted to someone else ... and so on. We now have quite a "gang" of our own, but I try to always say hello to anyone new, too. I find the group (interminable clapping apart) is inspiring. Not that we have loads of new recipes or anything, anyone can translate a regular recipe into a SW recipe tbh, but for the support. Even if one has put a little on or stayed the same weight, others will say "Well, it'll come off next week" or "You're looking great anyway" and stuff like that, it just makes you feel better when others say it than when you are trying to convince yourself. We do have a nice consultant I must say. I don't think we properly appreciated her until she went on hols and we had a sub for a couple of weeks, blimey it was like being at a 19th century boarding school . Our consultant is funny, is still struggling to lose the last of her excess weight, is very honest, and tries to give good advice. Good luck x
