What a way to end the holidays eh Becles lol!!

Caitlyn's favourite toys at 6 months were anything electronic, but especially this... She's a technology freak like Daddy... We have the same walker as buttons and she loves that too... Still does... Which is really annoying because I want to put it away lol...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Maz - sorry that work is being PITA.
Sorry, I still haven't caught up properly yet :(

Quick question. My DD is 5 next month and now started school, but she's still struggling to cut up quite a bit of her food. I keep showing her, but I feel like we're not getting anywhere - surely she should be able to do this by now, or am I being unreasonable? Those of you with similar age children, how do you get on?

Have fun in hospital Susan :rotfl: Does Alice know about the baby yet?
Amazingly not despite the fact that when I had a scan on Monday, the person doing the scan said, "There's your baby." She did tell me the other day I have a baby in my tummy but that's just because she thinks that if she states things she wan't as fact then they'll come true. I asked her today if she'd rather have a baby brother or a baby sister and she said, "Just a baby."

I don't really have any particularly strong opinions on when a child "should" be able to cut up their own food (and it depends on all sorts of factors like knife quality and the type of food in addition to the child's capability) but when I did teaching practice, the teachers used to complain that the children in Reception didn't know how to use a knife and fork so I don't think it's out of the ordinary that she struggles with cutting.

Thanks Susan - I don't have much experience with children other than my own, so I don't really have anything to compare to! In that case, I'll relax a bit on the issue.

I had the same kind of worry as you... I started a thread about it last year... In all honesty, I give Aimee cutlery at every meal and she knows how to cut up food... But she's still likely to eat everything with her hands... She's currently eating her way around the outside of a meatball with no use of knife or fork...

They get there eventually, I wouldn't stress over it too much...

Is everything OK Susan? I thought you weren't having a scan until 20 weeks?

  • Anyone fancy a bet on how long before the 'dummy debate' descends into b1tching and name calling?

I only read the first few comments, saw ' I prefer to comfort my child myself when she's upset' and thought I'd best come back out of there!
