Sorry to come out of lurking just to rant but here goes..

START RANT - I've been waiting ages for my manager to get back to me about if I can change my shift at work for my return which I arranged a few weeks ago would be the 27th Sept following a weeks holiday. Now the childminder we've arranged texts me yesterday asking if I know if I want her to have Evie til 3 or 5 cos she looks after an 18 month old as well and her mum was enquiring about keeping her on after school and childminder can have her and Evie in day but only have one under 2 yrs old after school cos she has more older ones. I know I've been keeping her hanging on too long anyway waiting to find out what hrs we want. So I told her I'd try to find out and let her know today.
My manager at work is a lovely woman and I get on with her really well. But she's emailed me today (not phoned like I asked her to do so I could discuss things) with a really blunt, cold email which isn't like her saying that my request to work 8-2 (which is a set shift my work have - i'm not asking for a completely separate shift) has been declined but she's got a meeting later to see if she can get it overruled. Problem with this is that my pre-maternity shift was 12-8 so I would gave to put in another request to work 8-4 which would be the other possible option for me (OH works 1-9 so I can't work later than childminder can have her) so that request would take ages again.
That means that if its not overruled I would have to go back on 12-8 which I can't do so I'd have to resign which I really don't want to do. Then I'd also have to pay back my company maternity pay (about £2000 ) cos I'd not returned for at least 3 months which I fully intended to do!
:grouphug: Sounds very frustrating. Hope your wedding goes well though.

I think you could use the email to argue it. She stated you had the week off, so you do. Arggh to your work!

I'm pricing up holidays for half term week.

I'm quite shocked that i've found 7 nights all inclusive in Turkey, Majorca, Canaries and Mainland Spain for cheaper than 5 nights in Centre Parcs!

Now i'm wondering how J will cope with a flight. He used to be ok when he was little. The only bit he didn't like was the tunnel to the plane. If they use the old style steps up to the plane he's ok.

ETA: Has anyone been abroad late October - is anywhere still hot?

The canaries are still nice, we went to Fuertaventura in November and it was still lovely, even though that is the windiest of the 3 islands!

    Congrats EA

    Thanks for book linky Lilian

Sami - i couldn't find you on the forum I thought you would be on:(

Well I still have it so I hope so. I've informed her of the email and that I still have it but no reply since so it's in her hands for now.

Sorry for taking up so much space with that post everyone! :o I'll sneak off back to lurking....:silenced:

You know what I totally love that E is my bench mark baby..... Can always rely on you and E to let me know he's doing alright :D

Right what can I bake today people???

You said I was your benchmark on the pregnancy thread:cry::cry:

Anyway I shall pretend I still am and tell you that we did very little tummy time with T as he hated it. Instead I'd sort of lie him on my chest while I was sitting up but leaning back slightly and he liked that. Even justn holding him upright will help. It didn't affect him as he rolled over bang on schedule (or even slightly early according to some books) at 16 weeks and just seems to get stronger every day. He can hold his head up for ages on his front now if there's something to entertain him.

EA - :j:j:j I'm another who would be suicidal at a new pregnancy now lol

    :j:j:j for Landon's laugh

    Lovely pictures of Jake

Beenie :rotfl:at your pic of Amber - that's got to be a baby of the month entry!!

We set out to walk my friend back and do some shopping and got caught in the thunderstorm! I gave up and just went to the late shop instead where some choc muffins fell in my basket! T has been asleep for 40 mins and I should be doing something productive....instead I appear to have sat on my asre for 40 mins instead!

GISI - Henry sounds very cute! Hope you've got a video of that to show him in years to come! (I also mull over it for days if a customer shouts at me lol)

Michelle - I had to ask my cousin for a nursery rhyme book to refresh my memory! I bought T one of these with tesco clubcard points and it;s fab http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-Laugh-Learn-Storytime-Rhymes/dp/B000FGG8FK/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=toys&qid=1283874290&sr=8-11

Maz - big hugs. What a horrible situation. Firstly I would say you can definitely use that email from your manager as proof that you have booked a week off. It sounds as though they are being unneccessarily awkward about the whole thing. If they do refuse your other shift then I also think you should definitely look at going off sick....why should you treat them well when they have treated you so badly??? No need to apologies. Good luck with your wedding tho :)

Have fun in hospital Susan :rotfl: Does Alice know about the baby yet?

ETA - those of you with older babies, what are/were their favourite toys at around the 6 month age? I'm looking at what Thomas has got and thinking he could do with some more advanced stuff soon but not too sure what!

This was on hotukdeals yesterday and I wondered if it was worth getting?

Evie loved things she'd been bought as 'baby' gifts but we'd put away for a few months cos she wasn't interested about that time - rattles, little squeaky teddies etc. Her favourite thing then tho was (and often still is) her stacking cups. And I got them for £1 from morrisons! :T

Keira's fave thing when she was wee was that Vtech walker that sings that REALLY annoying song about a puppy walking or calling? Come and play with me! Lets have fun together while we learn our ABCS!!!

She used to just sit and batter it in, mouth the little phone that came with it, then started her zombie style walking pushing it around and then getting a bit confused as to why she couldn't keep pushing and walk straight through the sofa. Have a video of her trying to bash the thing through the sofa and getting annoyed going "EH *bang bang* BAH! *CRASH*" Then she seen I'm videoing her, so comes out and starts yanking at me :rotfl:

:T When will you get the results for your exam?

The exam is on October 11th and hopefully results will be out just before Christmas.

Sorry to hear of your problems at work Maz. Hope you get it sorted. Best wishes for your wedding - hope you have a lovely day.

Just having a rest as I've been in A&E all afternoon. Josh karate kicked James and James fell over and has pulled ligaments in his knee. It should be ok in a few days. Boys - who'd have 'em? :D
Here I go again on my own....
